The "List of Changes in War Materiel and of Patterns of Military Stores" are a rich source of information and illustrations of British saddlery and harness. Special thanks go to Mr. T. Ready and Mr. J. Morgan for providing many of the LOC's contained herein.

List of Changes (LoC’s) were published monthly by the War Departments as a part of the Army Circulars. The sign (§) indicates an LoC.  §1 appeared in 1860; they were issued on the first of each month (Until after WWI, when they switched to the last day). LoC’s were distributed to commanding officers and then usually bound. They contain dates for new patterns and changes to patterns.

They were first called Changes in Artillery Materiel, Small Arms, Accoutrements and other Military Stores. Soon afterwards LoC’s were retitled List of Changes in Artillery Materiel, Small Arms and other Military Stores. The name changed again in 1872 to List of Changes in War Materiel and of Patterns of Military Stores.
