The Stitching Horse pictured is marked "Alleghany Arsenal 1861" on the leather strap. It is used almost daily. The strap and buckle closely resemble an 1859 McClellan Stirrup Strap.

It is virtually identical to the plate of the Stitching Horse found in the "Manual for Saddlers (1914). The only discernable difference being in the simplified (un-turned) foot pedal support.
