The U.S. Army utilized a wide array of troop pack saddles. the early Arapeho performed well, but required much instruction
to employ properly.
Later pack saddles such as the M1917 Pannier Pack Saddle and the Phillips Pack saddle were much easier to use, requiring
little special training.
