DABDWA is my newly created word and I am sharing it with you so that you have a safe, effective way to deal with absurd people.  Using DABDWA can relieve stress, help you escape from meaningless conversations or arguments, or it can be used as a socially acceptable subsitute for expressions of profanity.

THE DABDWA STORY
One day I was talking on my cell with a very good friend of mine and as she was speaking I was thinking, "Oh here we go again.  We have been over this a gazillion times.  I don't agree with you, I don't feel like fighting with you.  I've told you what I thought about this before, you didn't listen then, so really what is the point in disagreeing with you again?".

I just patiently listened (well actually I zoned out for a while) and waited for an opportunity to change the subject (once the chatter stopped)  but a lot of wasted minutes went by as I waited for my turn!

I was stuck in traffic, so after I hung up I had plenty of time to think.  All of a sudden I caught myself chanting in my head in a sing song sort of way, "Don't agree, don't wanna argue; don't agree don't wanna argue" over and over and over.  You know, the way you do at the end of the day, when you are tired and bored and a little bit distracted....

Then I thought, maybe I should shorten this like a text message.  My kids are always saying, "IDK" when I ask them something, so maybe I should start talking in text.  (I know I am skipping ahead here - but my kids HATED it, when I told them how I was going to try to get this new word in the next cell phone commercial.)

Once I had the concept, I couldn't stop thinking of fun ways to use this new word/acronym.  You can say it out loud, text it, put it in an email or just think it to yourself while smirking.

It can be used openly among friends to avoid arguments.  You can say it to yourself or under your breath instead of getting angry at your coworkers/boss/nosy neighbors.

Or you can be a little snarky and use it with attitude as a substitute for "Talk to the Hand" when you are feeling particularly cranky.

It is a variation on the whole "smile and nod" behavior that passive/aggressive people use.  In fact, passive/aggressive people should try saying DABDWA out loud once in a while to help them become a smidge more assertive (like the rest of us normal people).
