Here's how the roster stands:
The latest roster file was published
on November 9th, 2007.
Rosters are 97% inclusive, which
means each team is missing 2 players on average. Most of these players have not played an NFL down this season
and are fairly deep in the depth chart.
The reason for this has to due with accuracy as you get
into the Frachise mode. I was finding that too many players on IR that I had dumped into free agency were being immediately signed by
CPU-controlled teams. To curb that, I've changed my methods from last year. Here's how rosters will be managed:
Bigger-name or team-staple players
on IR will be kept on the team whenever possible. Promotions from the practice
squad and small-time trades (i.e. #2 punters, kickers, 3rd, 4th, 5th stringers) will be ignored
unless they have specific impact. Once you’re in a franchise, you can place
players on IR and easily pick up roster bodies. This is who gets cut first to
keep room for the big names:
5th T/G, or 3rd
C
3rd FB
5th TE
7th WR
7th DB
5th DT
6th OLB
6th DE
4th FS/SS
4th QB
RB's will be based on potential production
