Goliath began making 3 wheeled cars and trucks in the 1930's.  These two are examples from the 1950's.  The truck on the left was known as the "Goli".

Goliath also began making 4 wheeled trucks in 1950, called Express.  All models had front wheel drive, with a 2 cylinder engine until 1957, when it was udated with the 1094 flat 4 cylinder engine.

This 1959 Express 1100 has the flat 4 engine, and a low platform bed.  Goliath gave the customer an option of a high or low wooden platform.

What a happy face!!!

Here is another Express 1100 pickup truck which appears to have the high level platform bed.  With this cab forward design, the flat four engine was placed under and between the driver and passenger seat, and serviceable through a removable access panel.

Goliath also offered the Express as a microbus to compete with Volkswagon.  These were also front wheel drive, with either the 2 or 4 cylinder engines.
This is a late '50's Express 1100 model with windows and roof "portholes"

Windowless van models were also offered

Lloyd also manufactured microvans in the 1950's, like this LT 600.
These were powered by 2 cylinder engines, and had front wheel drive.  Much of the framework for the body was made of wood.  These are quite rare; there are two in Washington State, and I think there are a couple in California.

The cargo areas used extensive amounts of wood, including the floor!

Here is a 1959 Lloyd LT 600 pickup truck, again using an amazing amount of wood! Get out the varnish!!

Here are great photos from Steve, who lives on the island of Malta.  When he was 17, he drove his friends around in this Lloyd van, all painted up for the groovin' '60's!  Looks like the Scooby Doo "mystery machine"!
