Ron Grabenstein was the past potentate of the Ali Ghan Shrine in Cumberland, Maryland,  retired master sargeant from the army, proud Viet Nam veteran, track coach, sportsman, motorcyclist, loving father and husband.  Dad passed away in September, 2004 from complications during surgery.   He lived for his family and would do anything for his kids and grandkids.  He loved spending time with everyone but his grandkids were especially dear to his heart.

Dad was a man of integrity and strength.  He cared about his community and all those around him especially his family.  The most remarkable story has to do with his coaching career.   The story goes that a rival school had a very good runner who could not afford to buy good running shoes.  Even though he knew his boys would probably lose to the rival student, he bought the running shoes for that boy.  Everyone that lived with Ron, knew that was not uncommon.  He was generous in his time, generous in his talents and generous in his heart.  He is and will always be missed.
