This is the desktop for my main display, a 19" Planar LCD. In the lower left corner, myHouse displays interior temperatures for the Den / Computer room, the Mac's case interior, the recreation room and the waterbed, also computer uptime. In the lower right, the exterior temperature and the high / low since midnight are displayed, along with sunrise and sunset times. These four windows float above all others on the desktop. Running down the left side, myHouse displays various alert "flags". In this case, myHouse is letting me know the mail has arrived, I have two phone messages waiting, three emails and I left the cellar light on.

Looking at the Home menu:

  • The waterbed and fan options are selected, which means they will operate within the temperature ranges specified in the Preferences window. When the waterbed heater goes on, the Bed temperature displayed in the lower left window and Mac TV window changes from black to red. When the heater goes off, the displayed number goes back to black. If the Den or Recreation room fans come on, the corresponding temperature display turns blue, going back to black when the fan turns off.
  • One or more Security options have been selected
  • Events are being logged.
  • A wake up time of 9:30 has been selected.

A software/hardware package called PhoneValet is used to manage the phone line. When PhoneValet detects a call, it passes caller info to myHouse for logging via an Applescript. Messages can be accessed via the Phone menu.

Here's a shot of the myHouse About Screen.

Mac TV is the seperate display (via a Radeon 7000 card) seen on channel 92 on the 52" TV downstairs in the rec. room. Nice to be able to keep tabs on the house while channel surfing.

I'm using ShapeShifter with a theme called Wood. Too much white in "Aqua" (I was going snow-blind).
