Baby Aidan

On our due date 6/28/04 we created a garden called Aidan's Oasis

Please visit JOSHUA'S BOXES by clicking on the link above. Fiona Beaven and Vicky Dixon created the website.  Joshua is Fiona's son who died due to a heart complication 4 days after he was born.  This site was created to share Joshua's story and to provide hospitals in the UK with memory boxes filled with things to help parents like us during this very sad time to create memories of the short time their babies are with them.  They are accepting donations to help their cause and have inspired many others including myself to begin working on ways to help our local hospitals and local parents.

Pride and Joy for our son went into the planting of this garden.

We planted a dogwood tree and plants, a bird bath, windchimes and my other children picked out their own lawn ornaments to decorate it.  We have solar lights in it that come on at night.  It is a very peaceful place that I sit at every night.  Megan goes out there to pray to Aidan.  I know he is not here to see it or play in it, but I believe he can see and play in it in Heaven.

There Is A Legend
At the time of Crucifixion the dogwood had been the size of the oak and other forest trees. So firm and strong was the tree that it was chosen as the timber for the cross. To be used thus for such a cruel purpose greatly distressed the tree, and Jesus nailed upon it, sensed this.
In His gentle pity for all sorrow and suffering Jesus said to the tree:
" Because of your regret and pity for My suffering, never again shall the dogwood tree grow large enough to be used as a cross. Henceforth it shall be slender and bent and twisted and its blossoms shall be in the form of a cross--two long and two short petals. And in the center of the outer edge of each petal there will be nail prints, brown with rust and stained with red, and in the center of the flower will be a crown of thorns, and all who see it will remember."

Remember all of our babies on this special day

This is the close up of Aidan's headstone.  We chose God's hand reaching for a child's hand for the corner, in clouds with a baby angel sleeping on a cloud.  Then I asked for them to add some doves.  Aidan's picture and his real footprints are etched above his name.  The Irish blessing is on the back ( I ran out of webspace to put it on).  I am so happy with our stone and so glad I waited until I found what I wanted and designed it how I wanted it rather than just choose something to have it.

Some people only dream of angels, we held one in our arms.
