The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind

Welcome to my Morrowind page! Here, you will be able to find various projects, FAQs, downloads, and any other Morrowind-related interests that I have created.

Morrowind Plugins
These are all the mods I've made for Morrowind. Enjoy!

Wyrenth's Campfire Mod (Tribunal-Compatible)

v1.00

...It's getting dark... The sky is overcast, blocking the light from the stars... There are strange sounds coming from the shadows... It might be wise to scrap together some wood and start a campfire...

One thing I'm sure many folks playing Morrowind wish they could do is to build a fire when they're camping outdoors. Well, now you can! Sort of.

This plugin allows you to purchase the "supplies" needed to build your own campfire. It's not perfect, but IT'S DESIGNED AS A ROLE-PLAYING SUPPLIMENT, something you can use to bolster your imagination as you play the game.

Wyrenth's ESM & ESP Icons

v1.00

This is just a couple of fairly nice-looking icons that you can associate with your ESM and ESP files. Better than a Dwemer Army Knife any day.

Formats:
32x32 - 256 Color
32x32 - True Color

16x16 Icons are planned in the future some time when I feel like it, but I do not have plans to make 16-color icons.

Wyrenth's Jeweler Plugin (Tribunal-Compatible)

v1.01

A simple mod, and my first plugin released to the public, this creates a wide assortment of rings, amulets, and belts for the player to enchant. Uses in-game graphics. To purchase the items, simply visit Millie Hastien's clothing shop in Balmora and speak with Mercedes Genovera.

Wyrenth's Companion Plugin: Hawkril (Morrowind ONLY)

v1.05

My second public Morrowind plugin, this mod adds an NPC Companion to the game world: Hawkril, an ex-Gladiator who wants to explore the island, and would like some companionship along the way. He's got no plans, so he goes where you go! Main features include leveling up when the player does, various tools to get him out of sticky situations, and of course the standard "Wait Here". v1.05 includes bugfixes.

NOTE: I CANNOT GUARENTEE COMPATIBILITY WITH TRIBUNAL! Sorry, I'll try and get an update up as soon as I get the chance...

THE PROBLEM: I noticed that when I installed Tribunal, I had to leave Hawkril behind because of the way teleportation to Mournhold works. I was using my primary character, Tyro, an Orc who had already completed the main quest. So I had Hawkril Recall to Balmora. When I returned after a long long while, Hawkril was acting very strangely! He was walking on his own in a sort of siesure and would not follow me. I tried various commands to try and get him to self-repair, but he refused to act normally again. So I tried disabling the plugin, saving, re-enabling the plugin, and loading. The result was even WORSE! Hawkril had turned into a HEADLESS REDGUARD and the only equipment on his person was his pants!

These symptoms did not manifest immediately on my other save games, but I did not leave the plugin enabled to experiment. Somehow, something got REALLY screwed up, and I am unable to find the source of the problem. My script, for all intents and purposes, is clean! I have also not yet tested a new save game created after Tribunal was installed.

I cannot reccomend anyone to use Hawkril if they plan on also installing Tribunal at any point in their save game. However, if you decide to do so anyway, I would be most appreciative if you could e-mail me if anything strange occurs... or if nothing strange occurs. I don't yet know if this is because Tribunal screwed up something in my save game, or if Hawkril is truely incompatible with Tribunal.

I am sincerely sorry for any inconvienence anyone may experience using Hawkril. If you need to get rid of him, perform the following steps:

- Press the ~ key to open the Console.
- Click on Hawkril. If you need to obtain potions from his inventory, type the following command: "ModCurrentHealth -1000". This should kill Hawkril. MAKE SURE HAWKRIL IS SELECTED WHEN DOING THIS! Otherwise you may kill yourself or another NPC. :P
- Type the command "Disable". This will remove Hawkril from the game world, though it will not reset any globals.
- Disable the .ESP file and re-save your game.

Note to Self: In Version 2.0, consider completely new Globals to make sure there's no conflicts between it and v1.05.

And if anyone has any input on this, feel free to e-mail me. (Note to Self: See if there's a way to use TESAME to clean up my save file, see if that stops Hawkril from having a snit...)

Future Morrowind Projects
Below are projects that I am working on, or would like to work on. There is no guarentee that ANY of these ideas will see the light of day, but here they are anyway. If you think you can help me out on some of the tougher projects, let me know. Serious inquiries only, please!

Creeper Roulette
Any folks out there a fan of the 80's game show Press Your Luck? Or the new version, Whammy: The All New Press Your Luck?

This would run essentially like that, minus a few changes to adapt it to Morrowind. For starters, it would be single-player (No NPCs to play along with you). There would be no trips, just Prizes, and Better Prizes. :P And you will have to pay a little Gold to play the game.

I plan on two versions for the player. One version that costs less gold to play, but has smaller prizes (like the first spin-round of the show), and another that costs a lot more to play and has much better prizes (like the second spin-round of the show). Both would be in the same plugin.

I've thought up a few ways to handle how to do this, but the script is gonna be an absolute monster to do... I may also need to re-skin some model or another (maybe a tapestry?) in order to get the board to function.

There would be 18 tiles and 3 boards. Every 1/3 of a second, a new tile is selected. Every 2/3 or maybe 1 second, a new board is selected. This continues until the player activates the Plunger (probably use a mushroom for that).

This may or may not be completely possible, so I'm gonna take a casual approach and work on it when I feel in the mood. If anyone would like to try and figure out some of the technical issues for me, feel free.

MAIN ENGINE: Considering Options (Who runs the show? What variables are needed? How do I keep the player from breaking it? How does the player earn Spins?)
RANDOM TILE SELECTION: Concept Developed, Unscripted
LOW PRIZE BOARD: Not Started, Unscripted, No Model/Skin
LOW PRIZE LIST: Prizes undeveloped; Money undeveloped
HIGH PRIZE BOARD: Completed, Unscripted, No Model/Skin
HIGH PRIZE LIST: Prizes undeveloped; Money developed
PRIZE ENGINE: Concept Developed, Unscripted
REWARD ENGINE: Considering Options (Need to experiment with adding/removing things to a dead Creature)

Dwemer Coin Merchant
One problem with having powerful weapons and artifacts for the player to obtain is that often they're placed out in the open. Quests can help make things more challenging, but I'm not yet skilled enough to create quests yet. So I've come up with this: A merchant that will trade the dwemer coins you find around Morrowind (and otherwise have no real use for) for useful or powerful items. I've been collecting dwemer coins that I find, just for fun, and thought I'd find a use for them for me and others who are collecting them.

Currently, I am trying to puzzle over an item that will increase your character's ability to carry items (through a Feather enhancement) just by having it in your pack. Failing that, I'll be forced to use a "Belt of Holding" instead, but if I can figure out a bug-free way to have enhancement-while-in-pack items, it'd be a fine way to create other kinds of similar items, like lucky charms! :)

Magic Wands
Another aspect of Morrowind that I thought was missing was magic wands. So I plan on creating some as soon as I can get my hands on 3DS Max and learn how to use it well. There will be various grades of wands (Apprentice Wand, Master Wand, etc) as well as unique wands scattered across the land (Phoenix Wand, etc). They will function as a low-damage (ex.: 0-2 dmg) with Enchantment Points greater than is currently available on weapons. I will need to balance how much EP is available, however, to offset wands that do 500 damage on strike. :P

Bootmaker with Quests
Something that annoys me about Morrowind is the fact that the ONLY good looking footwear is Ebony Boots. This mod would change that, offering nifty-looking custom boots as a reward for helping out a bootmaker in his trade. The quests would begin with retrieving components (such as various animal hides, Scrap Metal, and so on) as he learns which materials make the best-quality footwear. Naturally, I'd have to have well-designed boot models to go along with it, which requires 3DS Max (something I don't have) and skill to use it (ditto).

Bane
A character in my game world, Runne, and one that I enjoy role-playing, I want to try and create both an awesome looking model (which will probably never happen with my skills...) and appropriate abilities and disabilities in a custom class. I plan on this being for private use, but if I find that I've done a particularly good job (mainly on the model), then I may consider a public release. The main problem is figuring out how to bypass the 100-max on stats without using a magic item (his STR should max at 200, but his LUCK should max at 30 or 40, etc).

Suitable Music
I'm not even sure if this one is possible. The concept here is to play different battle MP3s based on how difficult the enemy you're facing is, what level you are, what level the enemy is, and so forth. This would allow for boss-style music for those tough battles, where easier battles would play standard battle songs. I would need to rip MP3s from various sources for this purpose.   It would also play more suitable music depending on environment (town, cave, or wilderness).

More Happy Items
This is just a list of items I'd like to see made in Morrowind: Crowns, Circlets, Wands, Claws. More as I think of them.

Improved Falling Damage
This would improve how falling functions, both to make it more realistic, and visually appealing. The following changes are what I'm looking for, but all may not be possible:

- A gasp, then scream once the player has fallen a specific distance. This is interrupted by the "thwack" sound upon landing (so you're not screaming on the ground). Also, if high damage, play one of the damage sounds.
- Falling will also damage Fatigue. If it hits 0 when you land, you fall unconscious for 1 hour (no healing takes place) plus the amount of time it takes to restore 25% Fatigue (heals as Waiting). Try to have a message ("You've fallen unconscious!") and fade to black until recovered. If attacked while unconscious, show this occuring, but player cannot get up to fight back...
- Handle the whole "out for the count" bit described above differently? Have a "Time to Recovery" bar? Don't fade out and force the player to wait it out with their character in real time? (well, game time)
- Cause status ailment upon moderate to extreme damage, "Injured Legs", Drain Agility/Speed 10 to 90 points. (Does Speed of 0 have it so player cannot move?) This ailment slowly recovers in time, preferably recovering points as time goes on rather than have it remove the whole ailment when it expires.

Miscellaneous Projects
A few little things I want to do, for my own personal benefit...

...A spell plugin for special spells I can't normally create (a spell that transfers HP to another character, but costs 0 Magicka... a spell that does Fortify Fatigue 200, Damage Fatigue 1000 on Self, then wears off, thus resulting in an immediate unconscious state so I can mimic sleeping, costs 0 Magicka)...

...A spell plugin for spells I normally create. (Actually, this is finished, but currently for personal use only... I may release it once I've added spells other than healing/damage effects.)

...A Tribunal plugin that alters how the Dark Brotherhood Assassins appear (should use both Level and Health...my Level 30 mage has only 165 HP, and if he happens to run out of mana--which he does often, being a mage--he gets messilly slaughtered...I should not have to change the way I play Morrowind just because I installed Tribunal, so I want to nerf that a bit)... I've actually done this, I'm just not sure if it's final yet cause it uses Current Health (Player->GetHealth) and there seems to be no way to use Maximum Health (Player->GetMaximumHealth does not exist!!), so I'm gonna end up with easier assassins if I'm Level 30 and have low HP and go to sleep... [IN TESTING... Seems that you can stop the attacks just by learning about the sewers?]

...A plugin that alters the visual effect for "Damage Health" so it resembles something other than fire sparkles. Maybe import one of the other pre-existing effects and see how that goes. I'd like it to be a sort of Magic Missile effect. Also maybe reduce its base cost a bit so it's on-par with other damage elements.

...More as I think of them.

Morrowind Stories and Characters
This part of the page is dedicated to characters I've created in Morrowind, and when I get to writing, their stories. I'm the kinda guy that prefers the role-playing aspect of Morrowind, even if sometimes the whole "Must..Gain..Levels!!" aspect is sometimes forced to take precedence. As such, I take plenty of writer's liberties when relating their stories. :P Happy reading!
