The World of Runne
Updated: August 22, 2004

My ultimate creative project, Runne is a fantasy world that I have been trying to make into an RPG or write novels for with limited success. The setting is a mix of medieval and magical, with a whimsical mix of humanoid and beastial races as the main inhabitants. Its goal is to make a fantasy setting with as much realism as possible without boring the reader or frustrating the player (depending on the media type I manage to settle down with), yet also not so fantastic that the viewer rolls their eyes at the impossibility of it all.

However, there are many details not yet written in a form that I'm satisfied with, so there's little I can share here. This is a constant, ongoing project of mine. As I feel more comfortable adding details to this page, I will do so.

The name of the world, "Runne," was more or less plucked out of the air. Back when I first began to come up with details for this project (some time between 1994 and 1996), I felt I needed to come up with some sort of name to help give it permanence. As I often do when I'm short on inspiration, I began looking around the house for something to use as a name. I came across my sister's bag of runes, and unable to find anything better, settled with that as a name, adding an extra 'n' for character.

Hopefully, I'll feel more comfortable adding to this page as time goes on.
