Michael Laird is recognized as an authority on the history of bookbinding, from the medieval to the modern era; he has published
articles on the history of bookbinding in international scholarly journals.
Every binding we acquire has been meticulously researched and authenticated by Michael Laird. Recent acquisitions and
sales include important 16th-century bindings by Anton Ludwig and the Venetian "Fugger Binder," English Restoration bindings
by Richard Sedgley of Cambridge and Richard Bailey of Oxford, and a superb example by Marius Michel, who is viewed by some
as representing the apogee of modern French fine binding.
