What The Score Means

Student achieves at the advanced level and demonstrates superior academic performance.  Advanced work indicates an in-depth understanding of complex concepts and skills.

The student clearly demonstrates mastery.  Depending on the type of assessment, he/she has gone above what is expected of him/her or has shown that they are able to apply the objective in varying situations.

Student achieves at the proficient level and demonstrates a high level of academic performance.  Proficient work indicates a solid understanding of the concepts and skills.

The student has shown mastery with minor errors or corrections.

Student achieves at the basic level and demonstrates acceptable academic performance.  Basic work indicates a partial understanding of the concepts and skills.

The student is approaching independence and has shown understanding.

Student achieves at the below basic level and demonstrates minimal academic performance.  Below basic work indicates a need for additional instructional opportunities to achieve a basic understanding of the concepts and skills.

The student has shown minimal understanding and is not yet able to demonstrate independence.

Student has not achieved any understanding of the concepts and skills.  Remediation is needed.

The student has shown little or no understanding.
