We will begin our 3rd Season on Sept 7th. We ended our second season with a bang.  We finished with 40 members.   Our unique Awards Banquet from our 1st season was featured in the US Bowler magazine's August issue under the League Secretaries section. Our league is the only women's bowling league in the CARA (Capital Area Rainbowlers Association) organization.  We were looking forward to our membership increasing during our second season and it has.  We now have 10 teams of 4 women each!!!  We have had a total of 20 new women join our league this season. We can have up to 15 teams so come on out!  Be among the women bowlers who join us and all the fun.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide recreational enjoyment in the form of the sport of bowling for women.  We meet in a smoke free space on Sundays at 5:00 p.m. .  This "In the Company of Women" space provides the comfort zone for women to compete in a relaxed yet competitive atmoshere.  We hope to enhance the skills of womens' bowling through our weekly competitive matches.  We adhere to the rules set forth by the USBC (United States Bowling Congress) as a sanctioned league.

Our History

We started September 17th 2006 with less than 12 teams of 3 members each.  Several of the organizers bowled together in a similar league over 10 years ago; and wanted that comfort zone in womens competitive sports, once again.  Our goal is to achieve 20 teams and/or 80 women bowlers.  We're off to a great start.  CC Ford, a Gay Games VII Bronze Medal Winner in July of 2006, is the founding President of the league.  Her thrill in participating in this international bowling competition in Chicago which awarded her a bronze medal, was the catalist for helping to spearhead this league.  Other long-term league advid bowlers joined in with CC to form what is today...our League of Women Bowlers.
