I came up with the idea for DaveTown as an on going project. My idea is to build my town only using found or free building materials. My goal has been to only spend money on paint and glue. So far I've been able to stay pretty close to my goal.

The scale is 1/87 (or close). I tend not to measure as much as I should. Most of the time I use "eyeball engineering", If it looks right to me I figure its close enough. If a few things are a little out of scale or out of wack, to me it makes the model a little bit more whimsical.

I ran out of web space for pictures here. There's lots more pictures here:

Here's a picture of my workbench. I started with a wooden office desk that I got for free about 20 years ago. It didn't take long for me to run out of space, so I added a plywood top that makes it almost seven feet long. When I needed more storage space I put the shelves along the back. The backing on the shelves is heavy cardboard that I spray painted with some paint called blue stone. It comes out of the can in all different colors.

There are shelves on the right side and a pegboard on the left. I made upright supports to hold a shop light and on top of the supports is storage space for wood and other materials and junk that I use for building my models.
