Unfortunate Tristania news. Vibeke has left the band. Her voice is unique, and was a major part of the Tristania sound.
Their new album Illumination is my least favorite of theirs, so I wonder how this will impact their future sound. They seem
to be moving further away from Metal, yet still retaining qualities that make them a Metal band nonetheless. Just how much
of a role did Vibeke play in the evolution of the band's sound? I'm not sure we'll know. But the band is on the prowl
for a new female vocalist. Let's hope she injects Metal into the band.
Reminder that next week's show will feature a few hours of Overkill. Tunes and unheard interview clips with Bobby Blitz.
Submit your Overkill requests now! I wil be spinning other Metal after the Overkill segment, including some requests (Marduk,
Emperor).

NO SHOW TONIGHT!!!!
A reminder that WSCA is broadcasting the annual Homelessness Marathon tonight from 7pm until tomorrow morning at 9am.
So no BNM this week. However, around 10pm you will hear a couple of Metal tunes. I've asked Rick (the marathon dj) to spin
two Metal songs that are about the homeless. Lots of free stuff to whomever can figure out which two songs they'll be. Hints:
one is a 1988 tune from a very well-known former Thrash band who even made a video for the song, the other
is a 9+ minute 'anthem' from this Northwestern band's 1989 album which featured a new vocalist. Be sure to tune in next
week, Tuesday at 10pm, for the return of METAL!!!!
Interviews page is updated. Download and enjoy. Hopefully.

Battlelore - Evernight
The new album from Finland's Battlelore is what I've been listening to most this past week. I really like their
devotion to JRR Tolkien...dressing up as elves, orcs, really living the lyrics.
I sampled the album about a month ago, and was disappointed that all the songs were the same pace with similar vibes.
It seemed as though the album was comprised of 9 variations on one song. And now that I've heard the album in its entirety,
I was basically correct. However, that makes Evernight sound more like an album as opposed to a collection of songs. Solid,
clear production, with those one-dimensional harsh male vox and near hypnotic female vox.
Battlelore's 2005 album Third Age Of The Sun was quite good, if a bit disjointed. Usvainen Rhûn/Storm Of The Blades was
my favorite song of the year, a real battle anthem. Evernight lacks that approach. If TAOTS was more prepare for war,
Evernight is a post-battle, gather around the campfire and reflect album. Nothing here will have you kicking orc ass. That's a
letdown, but after hearing the album I don't feel that need. The almost-relaxed feel of the songs works. You'll notice
similar drum patterns in several songs, to the point of several times wondering if it's still the same song you were listening
to 10 or 20 minutes before.
Basically, Evernight's flaws work to its advantage. The similar-sounding songs give you the feel of a true album. That
vibe is present throughout. While the Folk elements are not in abundance (using a synth for an accordion is just wrong),
the bardness of it all is. Battlelore has composed an album that does not immediately gratify. Give it a couple of listens,
and you will have 'House Of Heroes' stuck in your head.

Playlist for last night's show, 2/13, is posted.
As I mentioned last night, BNM will not be on next week so WSCA can participate in broadcasting the Homelessness
Marathon next Tuesday night from 7pm until 9am Wednesday morning. Please try not to cut your wrists out of sheer despair.
Save that for when your blasting depressing Doom Metal.
The Metal & Hardcore Festival in Worcester, MA this year features Dimmu Borgir headlining the Friday night slot.
Kataklysm will also play. The full lineup has not been officially released yet. Hopefully there will be more than just a few
real Metal bands this year. But as far as live Metal goes, go to the shows listed on the left of this page. The festival won't
have these killer bands.

Interviews page updated! Site problems solved?
The site is now updated. For the most part, the internet & website problems have been resolved. But with my luck
I'm sure that something will happen to cause this site to disappear now that I've updated it.
I've added a bunch of interviews, many of which I have not broadcasted yet, such as Enslaved, OverKill, Leaves Eyes, and
several more. I still have Meliah Rage to add, but it needs massive editing due to unfortunate interview conditions after
the show. I've added part 2 of my interview with William DeChant, composer of the BNM theme music, on the theme music page
of course.
Playlists page is updated. For the most part.
The upcoming shows on this page are not meant to cover everything in the area. I just post a few cool shows that I'd
like to be at. Some I will, some I won't.

This site may be down for a few days. Due to continuing internet & website issues, I've delayed broadcasting any interviews.
Upcoming interviews you'll hear are Leaves Eyes/Atrocity, Meliah Rage, Overkill, Metal Church.
But not Destruction. The show last night was great, but the tour manager was very unhappy with their stop in Boston, so my
interview with Schmier did not happen. Nevertheless, Destruction put on a great, but abbreviated, set. Into Eternity played
6 songs, 3 from each of the last 2 albums. Great set, but the crowd wasn't there to see them. Many were there for Municipal
Waste. Lots of pit action, and nothing is more Metal than boogie boards. Excellent set. I'll talk more about this show Tuesday
night.
Tonight's show is Dark Funeral & Enslaved! I'll be interviewing both bands. Also playing are Abigail Williams, Zircon,
Cold Northern Vengeance. Black Metal at a strip club. Only in New England. And on Wednesday is Unleashed / Belphegor / Krisiun.
I'll be interviewing Unleashed, the Death Metal Vikings. Another great show...at a strip club.
Tuesday night's show needs requests. Email what/who you want to hear.
