Among these songs were promo clips, radio clips, interviews, Paul Stanley stage banter. I made sure to cover all eras,
all albums. I gave away KISS goodies, like the KISSOLOGY 2 dvd set. It pays to know KISS trivia. The show lasted 5 & 1/2
hours. I think I need to do this again, as I loved every second of it.

Edguy/Into Eternity/Light This City/Echoes Of Eternity concert
At the stripclub in Bedford, NH of course, where most Metal tours play in the area, is where the Edguy tour rolled into
town Friday night. I listen to all bands, except Light This City, so I was looking forward to this one.
Echoes Of Eternity was up first. I do like their new/first album The Forgotten Goddess. The dramatic female vocals over
the straight-ahead, midpaced, at times aggressive Metal works well. But do to a poor sound mix, that did not come
across well. The guitars were muddy, vocals overpowering, and overall the sound was a bit if a mess. I should have moved
around more to find a spot that sounded better, as that does make a difference in the quality of what you hear at this club.
Nevertheless, EOE's performance was good. The crowd seemed to enjoy. EOE is a good enough band to deserve more fans.
I'm hoping the next record is a little more varied in approach, with more of a live, organic production.
Light This City is one of the few bands on Prosthetic Records that I can listen to (Wolf rules!), though I never
do because they are a 'core band. They are of the Thrash breed, and they do it well, even if it's not my thing.
Their sound mix too was not good. The drums were buried, and for this style of music you need to hear those snare
hits and double bass pummels. Their performance was good, but they're just not my style. Though the last song they did, whatever
it was, smoked quite well.
Into Eternity returned to New England for the 47,543,569th time since 2005. I've now seen them 8,389 times. Their performance
was plagued by the continued lame sound. But it was slightly better for them than the previous bands. Stu hit all the high
notes and has gotten even better with his Death growl. Tim nailed his vox as well, and burned the fretboard as usual. The
chorus to Nothing sounded lame though, as did most of the rhythm to Spiraling Into Depression. I've always felt that Severe
Emotional Distress was a terrible song, but it sounded pretty good this time. Their set featured all the obvious tunes, 1
from Dead Or Dreaming (guess), 3 from Buried In Oblivion (no Embraced By Desolation, argh), and 5 from The Scattering Of Ashes.
Great set.
I've seen Edguy 2 years ago, opening for HammerFall, so I knew what to expect. And even though these guys play to large
halls and a ton more people, they did not deliver any less to the 200 or so people at a small club. They only played around
a dozen or so songs, a few older tunes like Babylon and Vain Glory Opera (which I've always felt was very similar to Stratovarius'
Galaxies). Tears Of A Mandrake sounded awesome, Fallen Angels sounded awesome, even Save Me worked, while Catch Of The Century
was just ok. They didn't play Rocket Ride (argh), but they did end their set with King Of Fools (of course). Tobias is easily
one of the best frontmen in Metal. He's very good with the crowd. Edguy exudes fun; their show is just a good time. The
crowd for Edguy was the loudest and most energetic (singing along, freaking out) I've ever seen at this club for any
band.
So this show was well worth attending. I expected nothing less, given that I've seen Edguy & IE before and they were
great. I really appreciated the fact that we got a tour of 4 very different bands, but it made sense, and it worked.
That's not always the case when you mix up a Metal tour with contrasting styles. These bands together just made sense.

I attended the Katatonia show last night. The band I wanted to see was Insomnium. They ruled. Excellent set of melodic,
mid-paced Death. They played 5 songs from their excellent 2006 album Above The Weeping World (The Gale, Mortal Share,
The Killjoy, Devoid Of Caring, Drawn To Black) and one older tune (The Day It All Came Down). Swallow The Sun was also on
the bill. Their more aggressive Doom tunes came across quite well, as opposed to Don't Fall Asleep. I left after
Insomnium. The venue was hot and smokey, I was sweating a lot, and I've seen both Scar Symmetry and Katatonia this year already.
Neither band was impressive then, so I didn't want a repeat of that. SS does nothing for me, and I only like Katatonia's earlier,
heavier material.
No band interviews. Scheduling didn't work out.

My conversation with Gaahl (Trelldom, Gorgoroth) is posted on the interviews page. We talked for over half an hour.
He discusses upcoming releases from each of his bands, nature & beliefs, non-Metal music, and more. I purposefully avoided
worn-out topics such as the Polish concert controversy, legal matters, and the usual sensationalist topics. These
things are covered in many other interviews, and I refuse to rehash the same tired subjects. Expect to hear a conversation
about Gaahl and his work, professional and personal. Perhaps in the future we'll speak again.

Tonight's show is anything goes. I've purposefully not set a playlist, so I'll know what gets played when you do....I'll
choose songs as I go along. There will be lots of new releases. I need requests, so you know what to do.
No post-BNM this week. I'm trying to schedule a few ahead of time, so hopefully soon you'll hear all kinds of music from
2am until whenever I leave.
The Gaahl interview will be on the Interviews page by Thursday. We talked for 35 minutes, so the file will be large.
If anyone has problems downloading the large interviews, or has any other problems with this site, please let me know.

If you did not tune in on Thursday morning, you missed my live interview with Gaahl. Definitely one of the best interviews
I've done. I'll have it up on the Interviews page soon. The Tim 'Ripper' Owens interview will be rescheduled.
There's been a profound lack of requests lately. Fix that by emailing what you'd like me to play.
Does anyone have the Urfaust/Ruins Of Beverast split 7" vinyl? If so, give it to me.
