Myths about Government Work 1
Here's a joke that captures one of the prevailing attitudes about working for government.
The annecdote happens because (a) civil service is successful at guaranteeing job security, (b) supervisors are successful at assigning tasks and roles so that people can get the job done by 4:00, but (c) government work has lost its meaning for most workers.
The public certainly takes for granted the good things done by government, and overlooks the worker's contribution. So tell me why should government workers be motivated?

My current "kick" is trying to realign governmental public health so the "work is meaningful". Henry

Jesus Is My Health Insurance

The Onion

Jesus Is My Health Insurance

I tell you, people these days have lost their faith. Everybody's turning to the television or drugs or the government to solve their problems,...

Came across this spoof from "the Onion" but think it actually represents the faith by which many approach being uninsured. In our transition from WV to Baltimore, we went several months without insurance, learning first-hand how it "just happens" but also creates a very subtle anxiety just below the surface of every life decision.  Henry

Bio-Spirituality and Focusing...
Nancyellen and Henry have found "focusing" to be an essential part of their life.  We learned from Ed McMahon SSJ and Pete Cambell SSJ at the Bon Secours Spiritual Center with Sr. Martha Starett.  Pete and Ed not only have their classic text "The Myth of Dominance" but have created a self-teaching website www.biospiritual.org.  Try it out.  Experience for yourself the way our bodies, minds, and spirit convey vital information every moment of every day.  Learn to enhance your intuitive side in a way that complements your intellect.
We are thrilled that our daughter, Ruth, was able to spend time this fall with Ed and Pete, helping parents and pre-schoolers with focusing at a cooperative pre-school.

Be here, now...
Tom Sims recently sent me this link. It is a powerful reminder that we need to keep "mindfully present" to each moment. You will enjoy a short break: http://www.scottstrattencom/movie.html
