Applets are small applications, or programs, small enough that they can be delivered over the internet.
Applets are used for a number of purposes, such as games and animated greeting cards. My interest is in developing educational applets, in support of the teaching of science.
This site was initially designed on a Macintosh Performa 6290CD. This machine has served me reliably since 1996. The poor thing was being pushed to the max, and yes, I just had to retire the poor thing.

In February 2000, I got my second computer: an iMac DV SE. I must say that it is one of the best computers computers I have ever used. I love it!

After working with WYSIWYG HTML editors - Claris HomePage for NT and Adobe
Pagemill for the Mac - it has become quite clear to me that writing in HTML
*directly* is the way to go. I got especially frustrated with editors trying to
read my mind and mess up my HTML.
I am now using using BBEdit from Bare
Bones Software, a great HTML editor (for Mac only).
The applets themselves were programmed using the remarkably powerful Macromedia Director 7. Director 7 requires quite a bit of effort to learn, but the effort is well worth it if you want to create interactive multimedia.
