Hello. I'm Rossiya. Thanks for taking an interest in our little family! I was born in the Philippines and moved with my
family to Oregon when I was only 2 years old. I grew up outside of Portland and spent a lot of time exploring the wonderful
outdoors Oregon has to offer, but also enjoyed indoor pursuits, especially reading. Although my family is now spread all
over, one sister is a journalist in Puerto Rico, her son (now a teenager) is in boarding school in Sweden (where his father
is from), another sister is a professor in Minnesota, and my parents still live in Oregon, we are still close. We all get
together as a group at least once a year, either during Christmas or over the summer, and then there are separate, smaller
get-togethers throughout the year. They eagerly await a new addition to our family!

I have always loved sports. My favorite basketball team remains the Portland Trail Blazers and I am very excited that this
year looks good for them. I played a lot of team sports as a kid, and even played rugby in college at Yale (super fun!).
I have been a dedicated runner for the last 15 years. I even ran the New York City Marathon twice while in law school.
Now I do a half marathon at least once a year. Ella and I sometimes run together on the weekends (she rides in her running
stroller but soon will be big enough to bike alongside me!), which is always an adventure. I'm excited to introduce a new
baby to running!

From a young age I have been committed to helping others. In high school, I started a chapter of Amnesty International, initiating
letter campaigns to free prisoners imprisoned for asserting basic human rights. After college at Yale, I worked for several
years at the ACLU, working on free speech issues. I viewed going to law school as a natural extension of my love of public
service. I am very happy with my career in the state court system, where I work as a clerk for an appellate judge, where I
help the judge assess criminal and civil appeals. My position is very family friendly (I'm home for dinner every night!).

Over 10 years ago, I was so very fortunate to meet Rachael. I was instantly smitten, although we did take our time to get
to know each other. Rachael is the most perceptive person I have ever met and I love those moments of surprise when I realize
she has a viewpoint that is not only completely original, but right on. Over the years, we have discovered both the external
world, on travels all over the nation and globe, but also the internal world, especially through our love of theater, art,
and music. We are so looking forward to adding another little one to our unique and happy family!
