Brief Bio: Dr. Astrid Kersten is a Professor of Management at La Roche College, teaching both undergraduate and graduate courses in Human Resource Management. She really enjoys teaching and her primary areas of teaching responsibility include Human Resource Management, Organizational Behavior, Organization Theory, Organizational Development and Change, and Diversity Management.

 

In addition to teaching, Dr. Kersten regularly provides consulting services to business, non-profit and community organizations in the areas of organizational development and diversity management, both in Europe and in the USA.

 

She also writes and publishes actively in these areas and serves on the editorial boards of a number of academic journals. Her current academic interests include critical organization theory, aesthetics and organizations, organizational dysfunction, and the possibility of diversity and dialogue within the organization.

 

Dr. Kersten was born and raised in the Netherlands and regularly returns to Europe for family and business trips. She is married and has a 17-year old son. She is actively involved with a number of community organizations, promoting interfaith and interrace dialogue. She also enjoys art, including stained glass, interior design, garden design and jewelry.

 

Dr. Kersten has an MPIA and Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh and is a certified Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR).
