Chilton, John Let the Good Times Roll. London: Quartet Books, 1992 - The only          biography of Louis, well written by the English jazz musician and writer.  Available in the US published by University of Michigan Press.

Shaw, Arnold Honkers & Shouters. New York: Collier Books, 1978 - Great book about the “Golden Years of Rhythm & Blues”.  Louis is heavily featured.

Tosches, Nick The Unsung Heroes of Rock’n’Roll. New York: Charles Scribner’s Sons1984 - Wonderful, jivey book about the R&B and C&W artist who laid the tracks down which the Rock Train Rolled.
