Ingrid Klimke (2004 clinician)
Since childhood, Ms. Klimke
has competed in all three equestrian disciplines: dressage, jumping and combined
training. The overriding goal of her work is the purposeful training of young
horses through championship levels. Her dressage training and her intense adherence
to the principles of classical dressage come from the education she received from her father, the late Dr. Reiner Klimke.
Ms. Klimke is as accomplished
a rider in the 3-Day Event as she is in dressage. Some of her recent accomplishments
are a bronze medal (individual and team) at the 1991 European 3-Day Event Championships, 1992 member of the German Olympic
3-Day team in Barcelona and at the World Games in The Hague, and in 1998, she was the world champion (individual and team)
at the Young Event Horse competition in Le Lion d’Angers. At the Sydney
Olympics, Ms. Klimke finished 4th individually in the 3-Day. From 1999 through
2001, she was the German national 3-Day eventing champion, and in 1998 and 1999 she was the German national professional champion.
Ms. Klimke’s dressage
accomplishments are no less spectacular. In 2001 she was 5th at the German national
dressage championships and 3rd at the German national professional dressage championships.
Most recently, in 2002, she placed 7th, riding Nector, at the World Cup in s’Hertogenbosch.
