This is one of those once-in-a-lifetime pictures.  I am sure that I will never again happen upon such a pairing of man-made and bug-made designs.  The artisan is undoubtedly a descendant of Charlotte.

A spider takes inspiration from her surroundings.

While looking for a perch from which to photograph my pond in the evening sun, I came upon this spider masterpiece.  The next morning I returned to take more photos, but without sunshine, the web was invisible!  I thought it was gone  -  blown down by the wind, perhaps, but using a flashlight I was finally able to illuminate it enough to reassure myself that it had survived the night.

This photograph was selected to hang in the Frederic Remington Art Museum juried Amateurs Only! Art Show in 2007.
