better
I am feeling much better though now I'm battling massive pollen action that is flying around in the city. I've
sneezed at least five times already this morning and it's only 9:31a. Sophia is better too.
I'm attending a wedding on Sunday and I planned on bringing Sophia, but the more I think about it, the schedule
is not working with Sophia's bedtime schedule. It's supposed to end at 8p, it will take us about an hour to get
home (it's held in New Rochelle), she's going to need a bath and some milk before she hits the sack. By that time, it
will be at least close to 10p. Phil's not attending (he has to work), so I have to rely on my friend Junko to do the
chauffeuring. I don't want to pressure her to leave on OUR schedule, totally not fair. But who knows, it's a Sunday
wedding and normal people have to work (unlike me) the next morning. Anyway, I e-mailed Junko to see what time she thinks
she'll leave. I guess I'll decide then.
I can't believe it's May in a few days.

From the Sophia gallery
I swear the older she gets, the funnier she gets.
- When Phil is not working, I let him take charge of her diaper in the morning. She comes running out of her
bedroom and opens my door (it's slightly open) and says, "Wake up Mommy!" and hands me my eyeglasses.
- She is constantly confusing my sister's Judy and Kim by calling Judy, Kim (never Kim, Judy).
- On several occasions, she's almost dragged Phil and I towards the bus stop to get on the bus. She must
think it's some kind of Bert and Ernie 50 cents ride.
- Phil claims she wanted to kick a maltese dog this morning because the dog kept jumping on her.
- She knows how to say, "Let's Go Yankees!!!"
- When we go to the library, she wants to pull down every single book off the shelves.
On a side note, my nose is still clogged.

TEETHING PART 5431908690439- AAAAAAAAAARGH
Watching Sophia teeth as a two year old is extremely frustrating. When she was nine, twelve, fourteen months
old, it was just as frustrating, but at least I was able to give her teething biscuits, cold teething rings to chew on.
Those teething rings or biscuits won't reach her molars. Instead, she chews on her fingers which is not cute.
She chews on straws. Her blanket. Basically anything she can get her hands on, she'll put it in her mouth.
Just today I caught her chewing on her hair clips (which scared the shit outta me because she could have swallowed it).
It was so bad tonight, I had to rub Orajel on her gums so she could fall asleep. So on top of a cold, she is also teething.
Fun-fucking-tastic.
Going off tangent, has anyone been watching MTV's "Inferno?" I really hate the "Bad Asses." Maybe if there
was one bad ass person that I liked or even thought was remotely hot, I would root for them, but I never liked anyone
of them. Why do the "Good Asses" always lose in the Inferno? Why do they pump themselves up and fall apart
at the end? And the ones that Veronica, Rachel, Tina and the white trash one (I forget her name) taunt, I wonder
if the nice ones (or not so nice ones) end up getting therapy because of those crazy bitches? I hope at the end the
"Good Asses" win it all. The weird thing is, this is the only television (and reality) show I regularly
watch.
9:49 pm
Double whammy
As Phil recovered from his cold, Sophia got sick and then I got the tail end from the sicky's. Probably
a good weekend to stay in anyway, since the weather sucked. But it was not fun being sick with a sickly child.
I offered her EVERYTHING that we had in the house to eat and she refused every offer, including her grape juice which is rare.
I thought that was very odd considering she loves juice and knows she only gets it once in awhile (bad for the teeth).
She became more finicky and it drove me up the wall. One day, she wants apple. The next day, she wants nothing
to do with it. She even refused her favorite food- cha siew (Chinese roast pork). She never refuses that, but
she did. That's how sick she was. I guess when you're sick, you just don't want to be bothered with eating.
Poor baby.
The Mrs. was kind enough to give me an extra $100 for my hard work during the week of the move. That was extremely
nice of her. But I still can't wait for the job to end with her. I need to get out to the temp world and
work on a daily basis to pay for my upcoming trip with my family (sans Phil). My father wants to go to an island with
casinos or some kind of nightlife. My mother and I want to go back to Turks and Caicos and do more exploring on the
other side of the island and leave my father in NYC. Now that's a vacation!
A shout out to Drew...hi Drew!

two sicky's equals a pain in my arse
Saaa-maaa-beeyaaatch.
Sophia was sneezing all day today WITH A runny nose and a low fever. THANKS TO *%@%$@$!#$%^#@ DADDY!
When I came back from working with the Mrs. this afternoon, I went looking for the nanny and Sophia at the park.
Sophia looked a bit flushed because of the warm 80+ degree weather and her outfit the nanny chose her to wear- a long sleeved
shirt and black long pants! I was so mad at my nanny but she quickly explained that Sophia threw a temper tantrum (which
is quite rare) and didn't want to wear the outfit I had carefully chosen for her to wear this morning. I quickly brought
Sophia back home to change into something cooler and of course, there was no rebuttle, no tantrums, no crying, no nothing.
I guess Sophia knows the deal when Mommy raises her voice and says NO, it really means, "Don't fucking argue, just do it because
Mommy didn't get sliced for nuthin', so just listen to Mommy 'cuz she knows what's best, okay?"
I had to meet my girlfriend Pat to return the PDA I borrowed from our trip back in January (shame on me), so
I took Sophia along for the walk. Afterwards, we met my father and bribed him to buy her an ice cream. Of
all days, there was not one single ice cream truck to be seen in our 'hood! Instead, he bought her a
vanilla milkshake and she enjoyed it with fascination (She asked "What's that?" at least 20 times). I figured the milkshake
would cool her body temperature down and she can get some milk out of it, but she was still warm. She tends to
get hot easily, so I thought maybe this is all a fluke and there is nothing to worry about.
Fifty sneezes and runny noses later, by the time I really got a chance to take notice whether or not she had pollen allergies
or a full-fledged cold, Sophia was looking miserable. I put Vicks on her. We gave her Tylenol to ease her
temperature. We gave her Children's Dimetapp for her runny nose and sneezes. Hopefully she'll sleep through
the night without waking (and waking me up too).
As for Phil, I hope he learns to wash his hands WITH SOAP to stop spreading germs around the house.
PS- After Phil gave her a spoonful of Dimetapp, she started licking her lips, babbling and laughing her head off about
how her medicine tasted yummy and wanted more.

OINK
I managed to make it to my first pilates class. It was okay. It was cool that it focused on my abs (I
have zero hence the massive belly), but I don't feel the pain like I used to when I went to abs class. Bah,
I'll just stick to yoga.
For lunch, Phil and I went to Katz's Deli. For those who don't know what Katz's Deli is, boy, you are sooooo missing out (vegans included). Katz's Deli
is a Jewish institution that sells a variety of meat sandwiches, most famous for their pastrami sandwich on rye.
I ordered a pastrami on a club (I hate rye) with mayo (I hate mustard). Phil ordered a corned beef on rye with
mustard. The sandwiches came with sweet and sour pickles (Phil managed to wolf down about 3.5 pickles,
I don't like pickles). We shared a macaroni salad. At the end, we stuffed ourselves silly and the bill came
out to $36. Hefty price, but worth it. A hint to those of you who wants to try Katz's Deli- share a sandwich and
pickles and get an order of steak fries. Make sure you tip the sandwich guy at least $1- he'll pile slabs of meat
after meat. Ohhh sooo gooooooooooooooood.
Probably the wrong thing to do after eating at Katz's Deli, I had to get my dress tailored for a wedding I'm attending
on May 1st. It's a two piece blue/grey floral silk dress. Totally not what I normally wear when I attend weddings
(always a one piece fitted dress that is dark colored), but I figure since it's a Sunday day wedding, I opted to go with something
different, bright and fun. I'm bringing Sophia along with me, so I'll take some photos of Sophia bustin' a move
on the dance floor.
Food coma is catching up to me. I think I'm going to lie down and rest a bit...ZzZzzzzz.
2:20 pm
Spring
Yesterday was so beautiful, I decided to jog, just a short distance. Instead, I ended up jogging from my apartment
to the Seaport, SI Ferry, Battery Park all the way to Stuyvestant. The jog felt pretty good except I was parched
as heck. I don't feel beat up like I usually do when I jog over the Brooklyn Bridge- the bridge is an uphill and downhill
and my jog today was all flat. Much easier on my body.
Phil's took some days off at work, but instead of chillin' outside, he's spending most of his time inside. He's
got a bad case of either a cold or allergies. He's not even sure himself, but I asked him if his head or face hurts
and he said no. He did say the cold or post-nasal drip (or whatever he had) ended up in his chest, so he's had
a hard time breathing. All I know is that whatever Phil has, Sophia and I didn't catch it. I had a runny nose
for the past week thanks to the pollen in the air.
I got Kenn a job to work at the Mrs. tomorrow (Kenn's an old friend). He's going to help install some software
and such into their new computer. So I'll be stuck working on the most beautiful day of the year...aww pickles.
Alright, I'm going to make an attempt to catch a pilates class at 9:30a (no, I haven't cancelled my membership at the
gym yet).

Recap of recaps
Had a very, very tiring week supervising the movers pack and having myself and the housekeeper unpack everything, including
new dishes, appliances, bedsheets, hangers, etc. INSANE. At the end of each day, I ended up with so
many scratches on my arms. I ran so many errands- Waterworks, Bed, Bath & Beyond, Mary Arnold's (kid's toy store)
and Food Emporium (I did some grocery shopping for them). I did manage to squeeze a day of lunch with Ivonne (she
and I used to work together).
The Duran show was EXCELLENT. Julie had bought floor seats, supposedly the best seats, but it was a backlash for
her since she's not very tall and had to constantly strain her neck to see our hotties. To hear them play "The Chauffeur"
was definitely the highlight of my evening. Not a huge popular song, but it's my personal fav. I loved the fact
that they wore '80s outfits- collared shirts with the collars up, skinny ties and TIGHT pants. It was kinda funny watching
Simon trying to adjust his "willy"- Julie and I suspect he wasn't wearing any knickers. Didn't matter, he was still
hot. Nick- my favorite. As Julie said, he never changed. Still has that smirk. Roger- he aged so well.
John- he WAS the good looking one. Now, too many wrinkles. What happened! Andy- he needs to lay
off the booze (I went to a 'PLJ show last year and went backstage and witnessed a lot of things I wish I hadn't). What a great
night. I can still taste being 15 years old again.
Speaking of being 15 years old, I bumped into an old high school friend at the post office. We never really hung
out or was in the same "clique", but we were always cordial with one another. She and I discussed having a HS reunion/gathering.
This ought to be interesting.
Sophia is so funny. Yesterday, Phil and I were discussing how our downstairs neighbor's child (one of their three
children) was crying for over an hour and it kept us up. Sophia piped in, in her incoherent babble and I asked
her, are you trying to join in our conversation? She said, "Yeeeeeeeees." She NEVER says yes! It was so
dead-on.
She also hates belly buttons or stomachs shown. If she sees your shirt up, she automatically pulls your shirt down
or covers it with a blanket. Funny.
Sophia knows her numbers and can identify it. When she recites it though, is another story. She still
sings 1, 2, 5, 6 though it varies nowadays. She can identify some letters from the alphabet. When we're outside,
she now looks at the signs on the streets and points them out.
She can sing the last word of each stanza in "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" and can recall the last word of each
sentence in "Goodnight, Moon." Just the other day I caught her singing and humming to "Toot Toot, Chugga Chugga
Big Red Car" (a Wiggles tune). It was soo cute!
Alright, off to do some errands on my day off. Spring is finally here!

The one kiss
I usually don't step away from my blogging for a long period of time but I've been swamped and too tired to type anything.
Solly.
I've been busy working with the Mrs on Friday, Monday and today. I'll be working with her for the rest of the week
since she and the family are moving into their new digs tomorrow. Their new place is so swank, it oozes money.
Four flat screen telly's. State of the art stereo system. Each bedroom has a bathroom. The Mrs. has not
just one, not just two, but THREE walk in closets. Fancy silk/velvet curtains and cashmere wallpaper. I love the
fact that the contractors and decorators all have to wear hospital feet garb to protect the carpet, but I get to prance about
without it. Nah hah to the gay decorator who always gives me a dirty look.
For the past few days, when I come home from a long day working with the Mrs., my heart always leaps when I
turn the key to open the door. I hear Sophia's pitter patter feet run on the carpet to greet me at the door. She
then gives me a big hug and a wet kiss and runs off to play. She doesn't even realize that one kiss made my entire
day. God, I love my baby girl.
Tomorrow, after working, I'm going to see Duran Duran in concert. Julie bought me tickets for Christmas.
How sweet of her! Although I'm not 15 years old anymore, I'm sure I'll be in the same company with the rest of
the screaming old bats. Nick Rhodes...yum.

Updates
Alright, recap time:
- Sophia's been waking up an hour later (8a) because of Daylight Savings time. I LOVE IT. Down point, she's
been going to bed later than usual (8:30p-9p). So I can't watch any Netflix movies until she falls asleep
which is after 9p. I'm going to hate it when it's Daylight Savings time in the fall.
- Sophia has been EXTREMELY picky about what she eats for breakfast, lunch AND dinner. For breakfast this morning,
she asked the nanny for cheddar cheese goldfish crackers. She also started taking some interest in granolas (Bear
Naked brand) that I usually add with my yogurt. Don't worry, there were no peanuts. I'm trying to mix up
her meals a bit so it's not the same crap she eats all the time.
- I decided to take up yoga and/or pilates class. I have to drop my gym membership first. I won't be really
saving any money by taking those classes, but at least these are the two classes I enjoy doing (actually, I'll be a
first timer with Pilates).
- It's kinda weird that I was googled. A woman had asked for my opinion on two Caribbean islands- she wanted to know
if there were any stray dogs on Grenada or Bermuda, like the ones I had seen in Turks and Caicos.
- I'm getting a little frustrated with the job situation. I recently applied to an ad through Craigslist and I was
extremely psyched and pumped about the company and job. It's been a week since I applied. I haven't heard
from them yet. UGH.
- I recently went to the doctor's office to get my yearly checkup. Doc said I didn't have any hepatitis antibodies
therefore I had to get a series of Hepatitis B shots (one next month and another in six months). Doc said it's common
for Asians to get Hep B because it runs in the family and living in a close community. I hate shots. Other than
that, I'm perfectly healthy.
Enough. Goodnight!
9:29 pm
Actually, I might be found dead
I thought I was going to go jogging early this morning but I had a sleepless night, thanks to some mysterious bug that
lives in my headboard. I keep thinking "this bug" is a rattlesnake because it makes a "rattling" noise on and off, for
the past year or so. I'm almost tempted to break the headboard to find out what this bug is, but knowing me, I'll faint
at any sight of disgusting bugs. If I don't do something about it, you might be reading about me on the news- "Mother killed
by rattlesnake hibernating in headboard."
On top of that, I woke up with some weird throbbing pain beneath my right earlobe. Gotta pop some painkillers.
Oof.
I think I'm gonna try to make it to yoga class at noon. I haven't been going to the gym after I got sick last month.
That always happens to me. I just get lazy and uninspired. I think I'm going to cancel my membership since the
weather is becoming warmer and I can do my jogs outside. I have weights at home, so I don't have to touch
someone else's sweat. I can always take yoga classes at a studio. An extra $90 a month in my wallet.
Yay!
Alrighty...got a bit pumped to get some things done around the house. Sophia is out with the nanny and it's in
the mid-60s today. Let me haul my ass off the computer. I'll update more later.

No, I'm not dead
Sorry, just been very preoccupied with reading a really funny book, the weather just being absolutely gorgeous and got
caught up with shopping (nothing for me, all for Sophia). And I sorta got depressed that PastryMom is no longer blogging. She opened herself up to the blogging world and let us peek into her life to what
a woman goes through as a wife and a mother and I want to publicly thank her for sharing her stories. I
do understand her reasons for closing her doors to her faithful readers and lurking masses.
I promise to post more in a few days. Most likely on Thursday when the forecast is promising us RAIN (didn't we
get enough pounding last week?). My bed is beckoning me and I want to wake up early and fresh for an early jog.
Cheerio!

Funny bits
Recent highlights of Sophia:
- When Sophia feels you're ignoring her or not listening to her, she'll say, "Knock Knock" to get your attention
- Sophia is constantly looking for Ernie (from Sesame Street) on her diapers. Why do they have Bert on Pampers and
not Ernie?
- Phil was commenting on how big he is. I was ribbing him by putting my finger on my nose and exclaiming, "Oink, Oink,
Oink Oink!" Sophia thought it was hysterical and started to bob up and down in the house screaming, "Oink Oink Oink
Oink!" (video to come)
- Linda is "Dahn Dah" and Phil is "Phil"
- When she gets hurt, she'll point out her boo boo and says, "Mommy, kiss"
- When she undresses her pajamas in the morning and puts on her day clothes with Phil, she'll tell him what she wants to
wear. Sometimes he'll suggest an article of clothing and she'll pick it up and say, "No", tosses
it to the side and repeats if necessary. With me, she knows better not to argue.
- She loves dresses. The longer and ruffle-y it is, she'll turn and turn, laugh and say, "Wee!"
- Every time we leave my parents house, she has a really sad face and looks as if she is about to cry.
- She's beginning to sing songs. She'll pick up the last word of the chorus and sings it. She loves to hum to
music too. Her favorite song is one she made up- "1, 2, 5, 6".
