Reason #31235 Why I Love My Job
Guess who was in the office today?  None other than the winner of Dancing With the Stars, Apolo Ohno!  Oh yeah, and he's a two-time Olympian gold medalist.  haha  :)  I actually never watched DWtS before.  Not until the final show because I saw a tv commercial he was one of the remaining three, so that piqued my interest.  But I've been a huge fan of his since I love watching the Olympics.  And mostly because he's Asian.  Gotta root for my brothers and sistas!

(BTW, last week, Bruce "Yippee Ki Yay" Willis and Donovan McNabb was in the office filming a tv spot.)

After working on a book project for at least four months, it is FINALLY over.  I am very proud of my hard work.  Even the editor of the book acknowledged me!  I never got this kind of love when I was working at Elektra.  Just shows you I've moved up in the real world.  If anyone is curious to know what book, email me and I'll tell you.  I'm not posting it online for obvious reasons (just can't afford to be dooced!).

Worse part is, the books department is restructuring and let go several people even though they are freelancers.  And they're cutting back on people's hours.

Since I had to finish up on writing the photo credits, I had to bring Sophia with me to work.  Her school was closed due to a Jewish holiday (Shavuot).  So I planned a trip to the Central Park zoo with Karen and her son, Kaden.  I made it into the office around noon and Sophia was so exhausted from all the walking, she fell asleep on the floor with a fleece blanket spread out.  She is a good sleeper and can sleep anywhere.

Since I'm done with the project and I don't need to go in on Fridays anymore, I scheduled myself a much needed treat to my favorite spa tomorrow morning.  Can't wait.

Oh, a HUGE shoutout to MMG.  It was so nice hearing your voice, momma!  xoxo

O Update
O is a funny child.  At almost 16 months old, if you ask her to point out her "be-bo", she will lift her shirt up and pinch it.  She knows her nose, ears, eyes and sometimes her mouth.  She'll say "Bye Bye" to you.  Maybe a "Hi" if she feels up to it.  But the part that makes me melt most is when I come home from work, she hears my voice and waddles over to me and lifts her arms up to ask for a pick up.  Or sometimes if I'm not fast enough, she'll hug my leg and add an extra pat to it.  Or she'll give me a wet kiss that comes with a noise, "MMMM-MAH."  So fucking cute and adorable.

She hates beef.  Infact, she'll spit it out.  Sometimes she'll eat pork or chicken.  And sometimes she'll eat the egg yolks and beans.  But boy does she love vegetables- carrots, corn, peas, broccoli (the most), Chinese choy.  When she gets full, she'll start putting food in her ear and nose.  I really don't know why.

Any fruits is like candy to her.  LOVES sweet anythings.  She loves green grapes the most.  I haven't given her any juice yet but I can almost bet she'll love it.

The only way to get her to sit still is to turn on Mickey Mouse on Disney channel at 9a.  She absolutely loves watching MM.  She also likes Little Einstein (she'll pat pat pat her round belly and lift her arms up in the air when they shout blastoff- so frickin' cute).  And she loves to watch Elmo- Kids Favorite Songs 2

She shows no fear when we go down the slide at the park.  The more slippery it is, the better.  O will even shout, "Weeeee!"  She doesn't care too much for swings.  If you toss her the ball, she'll either watch it roll, ignore it, kick it or pick it up (it really depends on her mood).  Don't even ask her to give it back to you.  She won't listen to your commands.  This girl is on her own mission and it doesn't include anyone!

Her new words these days are, "Uh-Oh" and "Tada."  I tell ya, I get so tired of keeping up with her, I have to go down for a nap too.  I'm not sure how I'm going to ween myself off naps when the girls get older.

Today must be "compliment" me today.  First, my big boss asks if I'm interested in working full-time.  She said she's really happy with my work and that I'm always on the ball.  I really love my job and I like the flexibility (pay's not too shabby either!).

Truthfully I can't take the full-time position quite yet.  Things are unstable with the new nanny, Sophia will be starting a "big school" in September and I just feel guilty for having my grandfather sit here five times a week with the new nanny to make sure she doesn't do anything bad to the kids.  But, we'll see.  I guess it really boils down to the money, if 401K is being offered, the benefits and the corporate discounts (woo hoo!).

Second compliment today was the editor who is also working on the book project with me.  He said that he was very pleased with the outcome of the book, that I have a very good eye and knew exactly what needed to get done.  Like, Wow!  It really made me feel great and proud of myself.  I really didn't think I had it in me to turn this book into a really beautiful, photographed biography.  I knew nothing about the subject, but somehow after working on it, it grew on me.  Kinda like a puzzle putting the pieces together.  And kinda like when you watch a movie and the music supervisor plugs in music- they just know how to get the audience to feel what they're supposed to feel.

Third compliment- my office-mate offers to teach me a new application that the department uses.  He didn't have to offer.  Maybe my big boss suggested to him that he should teach me.  Or maybe because the designer in my department is leaving and we'll be short on staff.  Whatever the case is, it definitely is a great skill to learn since it can help me move up.

Anyhows, enough with cloud nine compliments.  I seriously can't wait until my project is over with.  It has almost been three long months working on the biography and I want my Fridays back (for the past few weeks I've been going in for a few hours to wrap things up).  I am tired!

Speaking of, it's been a very long and much awaited post tonight.  Happy Norm?!?

No Update on S+O
I know, I suck.  For those of you who are eagerly anticipating updates of S+O, I just don't have time these days.  The book I am working on at work is totally frying my brains, so the minute I get home, the last thing I want to do is write about my crazy kids who can't seem to simmer down (I'm not a writer or editor, I'm a photo researcher).  I can't even poo in peace without one of them screaming, crying or calling for me.

And so my empty promises remain.  It is on the top of my list to get out to you, so it will come, very soon...

I wasn't quite feeling Addison's new spin-off show, "Private Practice."  First off, not a fan of Taye Diggs.  Everytime I see him on the telly, I am reminded of his awful Jamaican accent in "How Stella Got Her Groove Back."  They should have casted a hotter African-American dude.

Second, I just felt the plot was B-O-R-I-N-G.  Characters were not perfect, yes, but c'mon, there wasn't one single stable person?

Third, if you own a respectable practice, would you hire a surfer as a receptionist (okay, maybe to ogle)?

Lastly, Addison talking in the elevator (and someone responds, who is "God" the security lady).  What is this, an updated version of Charlie's Angels???

Tim Daly though, cutie.  But can you believe he's in his 50s???  He looks pretty darn amazing for his age.  Remember the scene when he and Taye Diggs were taking a walk in the park and Diggs telling Daly not to hit on Kate Walsh's character?  And Diggs started to spew out names- Linda, Karen and Julie.  How bizarre and weird coincidence is it that Karen and Julie are two of my closest girlfriends???!!!  No, I don't know the writer(s) of the show.

I don't think I will watch it.  I am though, watching "The Tudors."  Henry Cavill, hot.  If anyone knows me well, they do know I am a huge anglophile.  It's too bad I'm missing out on Brothers & Sisters (of which I'm a fan of Matthew Rhys).

I'll try to update on S+O this week.

Waga Waga
For the past few years of being denied visiting the UK, I've often daydream about jetting there for a quick weekender of shopping at M&S and Muji, having high tea, chomping on fish and chips, chasing it down with several pints and having Wagamama food all day long.  Many a times people have compared it with Republic, but I think not.  You cannot compare peas to pears.  Wagamama's is just that GOOD.

And what did I find in my mailbox today?  A sweet little newsletter to tell me THEY'VE OPENED THEIR FIRST USA STORE IN A CITY I WOULD NEVER LIKE- BOSTON!  Unfuckingreal!  That just makes me so pissed and angry and so hungry, that I just might have to make it a day trip or something to satisfy my Wagamama cravings.  Grrr.

For the second night in a row, Sophia's coughing kept us up for most of the night.  And the funny thing was, the minute she got onto the computer to play her Nick Jr online games, she stopped coughing.  So weird.  In addition to her Singulair and Zyrtec, we've given her Ryantuss (it's to dry her post nasal drips).  Her allergist didn't suggest that we put her on the nebulizer, but said we should close all windows and to turn the A/C on.  UGH.  I love having our windows and balcony door wide open to let (polluted) air in.  But we can't take that chance so now we'll just have to cope with an expensive maintenance bill.  Farkin' A.  I'm praying for a good sleeping night.  Knowing my luck, O is going to wake me up.  I seriously can't wait until they're 18 years old and outta the house.  I NEED SLEEP!
