Autumn leaves

Autumn

2008

As promised in my last newsletter, this section will now be in journal format.  I'd love for this to be an opportunity for all who read, to share with me their thoughts and comments.  Now that fall has arrived and we are realizing that colder, less forgiving weather will soon be upon us, I hope to impart some words that will warm you enough to last through the harsh winter days ahead.  But for now, let's enjoy the remaining warm days, colorful afternoons and sweet smelling evenings.

When I was a little girl, I remember walking through autumn leaves.  I can still smell the earthiness of the orange, red and brown remnants of the once pliable, summer-green leaves.  It was as if those times would last forever, and somewhere in my mind, they did.  But I'm not a little girl anymore and those colorful autumn leaves of yesterday are long, long gone.  But each year, when I see the pretty colorful landscapes along the familiar roadways, I'm reminded of my youth in a pleasant way.  Breathe deeply when you are near trees and bushes that are turning brilliant colors.  Even while they are dying and shedding the life they have lived through the spring and summer, take in some of their hope for renewal and ever-present knowledge that next spring they will return in continuing beauty and green, supple life.  We too should believe, as the trees do, that there is a cycle to life and we ride the current of our present lives, not to an ending, but to a never-ending cycle of re-birth, life and renewal of vibrancy and health.  I hope that you will find the time this season to walk through leaves, drink hot cider and allow the warm oranges of pumpkins, bright reds of Maple leaves and harvesting cranberries, and the chill in the air to energize you in a way that only fall can!

ELECTION TIME AND CHANGES ON THE HORIZON

Like you, I've been watching debates between candidates and my feelings about what is going to happen after election day 2008 waver between fear and disinterest.  Politics and politicians have been playing a dangerous game for many, many years and it seems, that game has finally gone bust.  I believe that whoever is elected new president of the United States, will be the perfect candidate as chosen by the people.  While not everyone who votes is completely educated on the person they are voting for, it makes sense to me that everything will happen according to a higher plan.  Whether the new president is one who follies and mis-manages the country or is one who miraculously turns the economic crisis and the war crises around, I believe it will be just as God intends.  If we must continue to go through incredibly difficult times, then it is our birth into an ultimately new world.  We will come out on the other side or as in symbology, we will rise like the Phoenix from the ashes.  We must.  There is no other way.  So as we go through this tumultuous time, have faith that everything will work out well in the end.  We do live in a changing world, a world that is growing in wisdom and a world where one day, through our growing connection via the internet and satellite, we will be a universal world of universal understanding where we as a species, our animals, our plants and the planet as a living breathing being, will live harmoniously and aware of how our own actions and in fact our own thoughts  create our planet and our existence.

THE FEMININE PROSPECT

It would appear that the Goddess is back and she will not be held down anymore.  There were so many centuries and decades where the Goddess stepped back, persecuted as the feminine was for her prowess, intuition and wisdom.  Fear spread like wild-fire and the feminine was all but snuffed out, kept only to procreate and make life comfortable for men who believed they were put on the planet to conquer and rule.  But the Goddess continued to press her influence and the power of the Goddess is mighty to be sure.  She fought back slowly and never truly gave up.  The Goddess is now returned in her full glory and due to the support and strength of women on the planet, she is stronger than ever.  Today's man is not the man of yesterday.  While there are certainly lingering remnants of the conquerer and the predator, the modern day man is not afraid to embrace the feminine, not afraid to acknowledge his partner-on-the-planet's strength and wisdom.  Together, as man begins to work with woman, the way that God intended, there is nothing that cannot be accomplished on the planet.  Unity will beget unity and this will have a trickle effect on all races.  I, for one, am proud to see women stand up and show their passion and fidelity to their inner convictions.  It has been a long labor of patience and stamina and now is an amazing moment in history.  We are bearing witness to a new phase of relating to each other.  A more mature, wiser planet is on the horizon.  The peace that we sing about in Christmas Carols and in other hymns together is not only a dream, but something that will dawn on the planet in the coming years.  This is not only my hope, but a vision I'm sure I share with many others.

CAIN AND ABEL

In my early years, while in parochial school, one of the stories that affected me most was the bible story of Cain and Abel.  I remember being taught that Abel was the good brother.  Peace-keeping, honest, loving and unselfish.  Cain was the evil brother who did everything he could to undermine all of Abel's good works.  So jealous of his good brother was he, that Cain ultimately killed him.  I simply couldn't comprehend the finality of Cain's actions and the heartbreak of losing someone as pure as Abel.  So difficult was it for me to accept, that I simply put it out of my mind with all of the other things that are too much for me to accept or understand.  But, today, as I look around my world at the horrific acts of my own brethren on the planet, I realize that this story was meant to teach us that Cain is alive and well.  He always was and he always will be.  We live by the motto that good wins over evil, but now I realize that this story in the bible is meant to awaken us to the fact that evil may in fact kill good and we must accept this as part of our existence on this planet.  Where we come from, call it heaven, call it the other side, or call it nothingness, evil does not exist.  This is why we have such a hard time accepting evil and we are so appalled everytime we hear of it.  We have an inner conviction that one day evil will be wiped off the planet.  But, realizing the meaning of the Cain and Abel story, I have come to understand that evil is part and parcel of being alive and existing on the planet.  The good news is that Abel is not dead nor can he really ever be killed.  He will always return and always triumph in some way or another.  When babies are born, when love is true, when communities unite and when the common good is truly at the heart of the situation, Abel is alive and well.  While there is evil in the world, we must forge ahead in our true goodness.  Carry the goodness with you in your heart and rise above evil knowing that it is only temporary and that ultimately Good does win over evil.

MY WISHES FOR THE END OF 2008 AND THE COMING MONTHS

I pray that you all, everyone who reads these words, has an understanding of their higher being.  I believe that there is a connection that can be had between us on a level that surpasses our egos, one that we've known before.  May you be blessed with absolute health, abundance and love in your life.  May your fall season be hopeful and may you feel passion for your work, your leisure and yourself.  I ask the angels to flock to you and yours for there is more than enough to go around!  Many Angel Blessings,

Lisa
