"Nitwit, blubber, oddment, tweak," said Dumbledore.
(from
"Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone")
And thus began Harry's first term at Hogwarts. It was the beginning of a decade of amazing storytelling
by J. K. Rowling. She has kept us entertained and enthralled, awaiting each book with great anticipation.
Now, as we await "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" we
are at the end of the cycle. And, what better way to celebrate than with the most amazing Harry
Potter Festival ever!
This event is a special fundraiser for
the Gorham Town Hall Theater. You can find more about the Town
Hall by going to About Us.
Gorham, New Hampshire, is hosting
"Harry Potter's Midnight Magic", a spectacular event that
celebrates the magic of reading, theater, and our community.
It all will begin on Friday, July 20th at 5:00 p.m.
Dave Anderson, an amazing magician who performs
classic magic, sleight of hand, even juggling, will keep the audience both mezmorized and laughing. (Dave has even
generously donated part of his fee towards the Theater fundraiser!) He will be performing street magic at the Common
and along Exchange Street and Main Street before his show. Thank you, Dave!
Men In Black, DJ's, will supply music from 9:00 p.m. until everyone's
too tired to dance! What better way to celebrate than to boogie to "Harry and the Potters" or the "Weird Sisters", and
maybe DJ Robert Platt will teach everyone to do the macarena to Wizard Rock! Rob Platt has generously donated his entire
fee to this fundraiser! Thank you!!!
But, wait, there's so much more!!!
Hear selections of all six books read aloud
by the Gorham Readers's Theater. Begin the
evening by learning to play Quidditch on the Common, a fun wizard game adapted
for muggles. There'll also be Wizard Chess at the library - see if you can solve the chess puzzle that Ron did when
seeking the Sorcerer's Stone. Achieve all your OWL's through a Trivia Game. And, of course, there'll be a costume
contest! Go to the Events Page for a full listing of all the magical
events and Hogwarts classes.
