Maryland , D.C., and Virginia Marriage Fees, License Requirements, Ministers, Officiants, and Celebrants

Fast Ceremony: $35.00 from 9am-5pm during the week; after hours:  $45.  Weekends and holidays:  $65.00.

Simple Ceremony: $75.00 from 9am-5pm during the week;  after hours: $85.  Weekends and holidays: $100.00.

Budget Ceremony: $175.00 and up for locations within 10 miles of Officiant's office, and $200 and up for other locations in the Maryland, DC Metropolitan, and Northern Virginia areas.

Traditional Ceremony:  $530 to $645 and up for locations within the Maryland, DC Metropolitan, and Northern Virginia areas. 

 

The Fast Ceremony is a beautiful ceremony performed for the couple only.  It can be scheduled on very short notice, by appointment only, 24 hours a day, in the officiant’s home or garden in Silver Spring, Maryland or beach in SolomonsMarylandFor the basic fee, the officiant conducts the ceremony, signs all the copies of the official marriage licenses, and mails the official court copy to the appropriate court clerk.  This ceremony is an alternative to a Courthouse Ceremony.  Depending on location, a Montgomery County or Calvert County Marriage License is required.  

 

The Simple Ceremony is a beautiful ceremony that has more flare than the Fast Ceremony.  The ceremony incorporates a decorated arch, bubbles, and includes the Unity Candle Tradition, the Hawaiian Sand Tradition, or the Celtic Hand Fasting Tradition.  Couples may choose the Spiritual Ceremony #3, the Religious Ceremony #3, or the Commitment Ceremony #3; these three ceremonies can be seen on the Ceremony Sample Page.  For the basic fee, the officiant supplies either the unity candle, the sand, or a Celtic Handfasting cord which may be keep as a wedding keepsake, conducts the ceremony, signs all the copies of the official marriage licenses, and mails the official court copy to the appropriate court clerk. This ceremony can be performed on very short notice by appointment only, 24 hours a day, in an officiant’s home or garden in Silver Spring, Maryland.  Guests are strictly limited to eight (8) people inside and up to thirteen (13) outside.  The Simple Ceremony is for couples who wish to have a ceremony that is quick, inexpensive, and private, or where wedding stress may be an issue.  A Montgomery County Marriage License is required. 

 

The Budget Ceremony is a beautiful ceremony that is filled with fun and joy and conducted at your chosen location.  For the basic fee, the officiant is available for email or phone consultation, conducts the ceremony, signs the copies of the official marriage licenses and mails the official court copy to the appropriate court clerk,  provides ceremony samples and tips on ceremony planning, music, rehearsals, etc, and an optional 15 minute get acquainted meeting may be scheduled Monday - Thursday, by appointment, at the officiant’s home or office.

 

The Traditional Ceremony is another beautiful ceremony that is conducted at your chosen location. For the basic fee, everything in the Budget Ceremony is provided.  In addition, the officiant will: prepare a wedding brochure, wedding workbook or worksheet that offers samples of readings and rituals; write the wedding vows according to the couple’s wishes; coordinate, attend or direct the wedding rehearsal, and prepare a bound copy of the ceremony along with a keepsake marriage certificate.

 

Whether you prefer a Fast, Simple, Budget, Tradition, Christian, Spiritual, Native American, Celtic, Pagan, Wicca, or a Theme ceremony, the officiants and ministers at A Beatific Union of Two Souls work closely with couples to develop beautifully crafted, fun-filled, custom-designed Weddings, Vow Renewal, and Commitment Ceremonies.  

 

Other ceremonies performed include: Native American Smudge Ceremonies and Blessings, Mother “Blessing Way” Ceremonies; Baby Blessings & Namings; Rites of Passage; Rites of Healing and Transition; Divorce, Letting Go, and Moving on Ceremonies; and Blessing Ceremonies for Animals, Houses, Land, and Boats, Baptisms, and Funerals.  

 

The officiants at A Beatific Union of Two Souls serve Maryland, D.C., Virginia, Mississippi, and Louisiana.  As traveling ministers, they travel to all ceremony sites such as hotels, homes, churches, public parks and lakes, beaches, mountains, and boats.

 

Ceremonies are performed for all couples regardless of prior marital status, nationality, religious belief, or gender.  Marital counseling if not required but available.  

 

Ceremonies are available in English and Spanish.

 

Pre-marital counseling is not required but is available. 

MARYLAND MARRIAGE LICENSE INFORMATION

 

·        Legal Age for Marriage is 18 years old.  People under 18 needs parental consent.

·       Marriage ceremonies require a valid marriage license that must be presented to the minister prior to the wedding ceremony.

·       Residency is not required for bride or groom.

·       Either bride or groom may apply for the license.

·       Couple must marry within the county they register.

·       If previously married you need a certificate of divorce or death.

·       There is a two day waiting period to receive your license and it remains valid for up to 6 months.

 D.C. MARRIAGE LICENSE INFORMATION

·        Residency is not required for bride or groom.

·        Both bride and groom must be present to apply and sign the license.

·        Blood tests are required and should be done in DC or on a DHR36 card that is valid for 30 days.

·        You need to bring a valid photo ID.

·        If previously married, you need a certificate of divorce or death.

·        Marriage License Cost: $45.00 cash.

·        There is a five day waiting period to receive your license.

VIRGINIA MARRIAGE LICENSE INFORMATION

A license for marriage in Virginia is issued by the clerk of the circuit court of the county or independent city of which either the bride or groom is a resident.  If neither the bride nor groom is a resident of Virginia, the license may be obtained in any county or city.  The ceremony may be performed anywhere in the State.

  • ID Requirement: Valid picture ID and a certified copy of a Birth Certificate must be presented.
  • If Previously Married: If divorced, there is no statutory waiting period before remarriage. In some cases, clerks may require documentary proof of termination of a previous marriage.
  • Residency Requirement: There is no residency requirement to be married in Virginia.
  • Licenses are not issued to out of state couples who are under the age of sixteen.
  • Application Requirement: Both the bride and groom must appear in person at the time of applying.
  • License Fee: $30.
  • Waiting Period: There is no waiting period. 
  • Blood Tests: There is no blood test requirement.
  • Under 18: The minimum age for marriage in the State of Virginia is sixteen years for both bride and groom; however, if either party is under eighteen, consent to the marriage must be given by the father, mother, or legal guardian. Special provisions are made in Virginia law to allow marriage for underage parties when the female is pregnant and for situations in which underage applicants have no parent or legal guardian.
