Haunt Theory
Anomalous, contextual, discontinuous
sensory manifestation at sites of recorded tragedy, where dramatic events and/or long term occupations (involving mundane,
habitual, activity) may indicate the presence of a haunting. These hauntings
may include both residual (ghost) and apparitional (interactive) elements.
Model:
(To determine the occurrence of specific elements of the haunting)
-
A structural model which uses culturally – interrelated symbols (“target objects”) to reconstruct
past systems (event and/or activity fields) for communicative – linked relationships to occur. The model views culture as a communication system that continues to influence apparitional behavior, long
after “physical” death.
- The model consists of four parts:
-
A) - Mapping the haunt network (intra-site movement)
-
B) - Determining the haunt stratigraphy (event/activity field history)
-
C) – Determining the target space = s.i.m.s. (stored information sensory zones )
-
D) – Conduct theatrical séance/develop targeted ghost script.
Operational Parameters:
- Consists of target objects that are related to a controlled targeted sequence of activities (ghost script)
which contains visual, auditory olfactory and tactile elements. The activities
are focused on specific individuals and their cultural traditions, as reflected in sensory manifestations.
Hypothesis
If
we control the spatial parameters (a), use the proper sociocultural context (b), we should open a communicative link (d) to
any apparitional entities that would be haunting the target space. (c).
