Scott Monroe started driving at the age of 40. Last year he was the #1 pick for the World Singles
Driving Team representing the USA in Italy.
Scott learned to drive and then ride with his first horse, Docile Dawn, a retired advanced level
Morgan mare whose name was far from the truth. Dawn was over 16H and build to move. In 1995 he purchased Bethesda After Dark,
aka, Shadow, a 3 year old Morgan gelding. He enlisted the help of Margaret Beeman as trainer and navigator/groom.
Since then, the the trio has achieved great success. Scott has navigated for three advanced level
drivers nationally and one internationally. Shadow was named the Singles Driving Horse of the Year in 2005. The following
are just a few of their accomplishments:
2006 USEF Combined Driving Singles Team
2006 National Combined Driving Singles Champion
2005 National Combined Driving Singles Champion
2004 USEF Combined Driving Singles Team
Scott and Shadow have most recently
been honored with the title of Singles Driving Horse of the Year for 2006 as well as the International Competition Horse of
the year from the Morgan Horse Association. Sue Mallory of Sparkers, NY, has recently assumed the role of navigator/groom
and has started off in fine fashion when the team won at Garden State CDE in New Jersey and a second victory at The Laurels
at Landhope in PA.’.
Scott strongly believes and has proven
that “There are no shortcuts to any place worth going”. Scott lives in Sharon
, CT with his wife Diane. He is a well respected Arborist and owner of the Monroe
Tree Company.
