Boots Wright and her ponies are the 2006 USEF National Pony Four in Hand Champions.
The original four ponies came from England
in 2004 and were the National Champions there. They competed in the 2003 Pony World Driving Championships in Karlstetten with
their former owners, John and Angie Pickford.
We bought them in May of 2004 and competed them in the Fall of 2004 at Fall Gladstone where we finished
as Reserve National Champions. We qualified to compete at the 2005 PWC's in Catton Hall England.
We won the USEF National Championships at the Laurels that year as well as becoming the USEF Horse of the Year Pony Team.
In 2006 we won CAI Live Oak and the USEF National Championships at the Laurels. This year we won
CAI Live Oak and CAI Sunshine
State. We bought a new German Riding Pony from Germany
this May and competed with him in the team in England
this summer. We finished the summer by winning the dressage and cones phases and finishing second overall at Sandringham in
England.
I began driving in 1990 and my husband Dave and I owned the horse team which Bill Long drove at
the 1994 World Games in the Hague, Holland.
Part of that team was then driven by Larry Poulin in 1995 at Riesenbeck,
Germany.
In 1996, I switched to a pony pair which then became part of the Asheland Pony team I competed until
2004. I broke and trained those ponies myself with the help of Bill Long and then Wiebe Dragstra. Those ponies won every major
Driving competition in the US including
the 2000 (then) AHSA National Championships.
