The red of this stole celebrates the Holy Spirit. The lamb is the most common animal symbol
in Christian art. It reminds us of sacrifice, it represents Christ, and can recall the Resurrection. In general the lamb by
its nature represents purity and innocence and the virtues of temperance, prudence, and charity. The Rho cross used on the
stole makes us think of a Shepherd's cross. Jesus is the Good Shepherd, guiding us and looking after us.
The stole front is crafted from a pure red cotton blend that
has a small embossed checked design. The symbols are appliqued. It is lined with cherry red broadcloth fabric
and is interfaced for added body. Stole is 49" long measuring from back of neck to the bottom
of the hem on one side. It measures 4 1/2" wide at the hem and tapers to 2 3/4" at the neck.

This stole symbolizes the gifts of the Holy Spirit spoken of in Isaiah 11:2. They are

The liliform endcaps of the cross on this stole remind us of the Trinity. The pure white
with accents of gold remind us of how special this occassion is. The abstract gold shapes recall the peeks, valley and
even sometimes the wilderness that we experience on our faith journey.

Red is the liturgical color symbolizing love and zeal, bringing to mind fire and blood. Red is
worn on many occassions in the church including: Palm Sunday, to celebrate evangelists and martyrs, saint's days, and ordination.
Last but not least it is symbolic of Pentecost, the day on which the Holy Spirit descended, appearing in tongues of fire,
and since recognized as the birthday of the Christian Church. The back tip of this special stole is embellished with a dove
as a symbol of the Holy Spirit.
