The crown of thorns on the chest of this stole is a reminder of the one the Roman soldiers plaited and
mockingly placed upon Jesus' head. The three nails are a passion symbol for our Lord. The story of the crucifision does
not mention the use of nails, but we get tehis information from Thomas after the Resurrection when he asked to feel the wounds
made by the nails (John 20:25).
The stole front is crafted from a violet/purple cotton evenweave.
The nails are appliqued and finished with machine embroidery . The crown is handpainted with textile paint. It is lined with a
print cotton purple fabric (see photo). It is interfaced for extra body.Stole is 49" long measuring
from back of neck to the bottom of the hem on one side. It measures 4 1/2" wide at the hem and tapers to 2 3/4" at the neck.

The money bag on this stole represents Judas who with thirty pieces of silver, betrayed our lord for the
money, but seeing what he had done, he returned it in remorse. The wavy strips represent the looking inward and outward
to the past and our future that we do during this season of reflection. It has a gold cross on the back tip.
This stole is 54" long and is 4 1/4" wide tapering to 2 1/2" at the neck. It is crafted out of a purple

The three crosses on the chest of this stole symbolize Christ on the Cross flanked by the two thieves
that were crucified with Him. The abstract shapes on the border of the stole recall the story of the Passion beginning with grey
for Ash Wednesday. Grey is the color of ashes and therefore a Biblical symbol of mourning and repentance. These are
followed by red for Maundy Thursday, a symbol of the disciples. A reminder of Good Friday is found in the color black.
It symbolizes the darkness brought into the world by sin. The stole is capped off with a bit of white for the joy
that we are able to celebrate in Easter at the end of Lent.
The stole front is crafted from a purple polished cotton.
The crosses are appliqued and finished with machine embroidery. The bits of color on the border are raw edge
appliqued and adhered with narrow bands of horizontal free motion stitching. It is lined with a greyish purple broadcloth
and has been interfaced with flannel (you can't see this) to give it body. Stole is 51" long measuring
from back of neck to the bottom of the hem on one side. It measures 4 7/8" wide at the hem
and tapers to 2 3/4" at the neck.

The stripes and variety of the purples on this stole remind us of the many stages of prayer,
fasting and pentinence we experience while preparing for Easter. The palm is the sign of victory commemorating Christ's triumphant
entry into Jerusalem. The rooster recalls Peter's denial. The crown of thorns reminds us of what was placed mockingly on
Jesus' head.
The stole front is crafted from the softest, variegated
purple cotton. The stripes are appliqued and finished with machine embroidery. The symbols are handpainted
