The J-Rod Twin Mount fits securely into the mic clamp on your camera.
The function of The J-Rod is two fold--First it allows the microphone to be mounted up to 5 inches back towards the rear of
the camera--this is a huge benefit when trying to shoot with a deadcat, blimp, windmuff, or a long shotgun on top of the camera
when using a wide lens.
Secondly, when mounting a shotgun mic onto the camera mic mount the lightest touch to the
camera can transfer handling noise to the microphone. The J-Rod was designed to address the problems of mounting a rubber
band shock mount on the camera to isolate handling noise. The new J-Rod Twin Shoe has 2 shoe
mounts, allowing a microphone and a radio reciver to be mounted on your mic clamp. This will leave your camera shoe open for
a light, hard disc, or extra receiver. On a camera like the Canon A1 and G1 or Sony EX1, V1
and Z1 it also allows for the use of a shock mount and a radio receiver, which is a huge advantage over the stock clamp mount.
The J-Rod and Twin Mount also allows you to use any mic you can fit into a rubber band mount, and not just the manufacturers
proprietary microphones. You will need to have a rubber band shock mount, or purchase one from the home page.

See the link to the left for a list which cameras it will
fit.

| J-Rod mounted to a Canon A1 with a wind muff. Look how little the wind muff extends beyond the lens. |
The J-Rod clamps tightly in place using the mic mount on your video camera. It
allows mounting of a rubber band shock mount like the Beyer Dynamic (optional purchase) or any other "shoe" mount accessory
such as a radio receiver. With a shock mount in place you can use any mic, and not be restricted to the mic specified for
the camera. The J-Rod can be moved forward and back, and is free to rotate 360 degrees in the mount. This ensures that your
mic will be out of the shot and helps provide stable balance. By moving the J-Rod back in the clamp your wind muff or deadcat
will remain out of the shot, even with a wide lens.
