Riding lessons address the here and now of this horse, and this rider and this day. They are limited by the knowledge
of the instructor, and the presentation of information in its fundimental form is usually limited at best.
KISS Dressage and I believe that the very best way to overcome this limitation is to read. Read the books. The great books.
Sadly, many of these great works are out of print, hard to find and expensive. Since there are so few people who have
read those books, deciding which rare and out of print books to buy is a problem. I hope to be of some assistance to
you readers as I post reviews of books in my collection here .
Reading the books helps to give you the fundemental picture of the essence of horsemanship. Understanding the fundemenal
theories and questions of horses and riding provides the tools to move away from "situational training". With a broader
perspective, instead of seeing the widely varied and seemingly unrelated problems of different individual horses, you can
begin to see how each horse really fits on the spectrum of "horseness".
So as the titile says, Read, Ride, Reflect. Read the books, ride the horse, and reflect on the messages from the
authors. They have ridden many, many horses, so stand on the shoulders of these giants of horsemanship and enjoy the
view!
