David R. Kent is my legal name but I have always gone by Randy. I am the Minister
of Music and Senior Adults of West Lynchburg Baptist Church* in Lynchburg, Virginia. I
have previously served churches in Ohio, Texas and California. I grew up in Poway, California, (a suburb of San Diego)
and attended San Diego State University where I met my wife, Jeanne, in Concert Choir. We graduated together
in 1983, both with a Bachelor of Arts in Music. In 1989, I received a Master of Music in Church Music degree from
Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas.
I married my wonderful wife, Jeanne Ramel, on August 1, 1981. We have two grown
children.
My hobbies include: bicycling, fixing whatever needs to be fixed around the house, keeping
up the yard, ringing in the Bells of the Blue Ridge** (a community handbell choir in Lynchburg),
singing in the Virginia Baptist Male Chorale*** and writing and arranging music. Under my legal
name, David R. Kent, I have published several arrangements and compositions for handbells with various publishers.
