Sacramental Preparation:

BAPTISM: Information is available at the Rectory.

FIRST PENANCE & COMMUNION

* Preparation generally consists of two years of formal classroom instruction

* Children is school grades 1 or 2 will begin religious education in grade 1. Immediate preparation for the sacrament takes place in Grade 2.

* Children who are in third grade or above (who have not yet received their First Communion) will attend their age-appropriate class as well as a monthly Faith Formation class with their parents.

* Additionally, there are several parents` meetings throughout the year.

* Children cannot be considered for the Sacraments unless they are attending Sunday Mass on a regular basis.  

CONFIRMATION: In the Spring of 2010, our young adults in Grade 8 and 9 (and above) will receive the Sacrament of Confirmation after proper preparation (at least 2 years of religious instruction). 

Class Expectations

  • Students are expected to attend all the scheduled classes. Parents are asked to call the day of an absence and to send a note to the teacher at the next class. Over 8 absences constitute an incomplete year.
  • A progress report is sent home twice a year, for parents to guage their child's progress. 
  • With time limited to an hour and fifteen minutes, catechists cannot allow behavior problems to upset a class. If a problem arises, parents will be notified.
  • Students cannot bring food, drink or gum to class.
  • Replacement cost of a lost student text is $10.00.

Children`s Confessions: Families should receive the Sacrament of Penance regularly, preferably once a month. We also make it available to the students twice a year during class time.

Family Class Masses: Our Religious Education families will celebrate the Eucharist together during the school year.
