WHAT TO BRING CAMPING”
(Typical 2 day/ 1 night camping trip)
For camping: The troop
has a supply of tents and some ground covers that we will be using for camping. Do not bring personal tents. We
will be planning and cooking our meals as patrols. There is no need to bring additional food, unless specifically instructed.
You may want, however, to bring some snacks for yourself or to share with others. All cookware and cooking utencils
will be troop supplied. Plates and cups are part of your patrol cook sets; however, you may want to bring disposable
plates and cups to cut down on clean up.
Items to Bring:
Scout Handbook Sleeping Bag (air mattress and pillow if desired)
Clothing:
(in plastic bags to keep dry) 2 pr. Underwear 3 t-shirts 3pr. Light weight socks sweat shirt with hood sweat
pants long pants for hiking jacket (heavier jacket, depending on weather) hats (2) (baseball hat or warm hats, covering
ears, depending on weather) work gloves ( also, 1-2 pr. warm gloves, depending on weather) shorts (depending on
weather) thermal underwear (depending on weather)
(Remember for camping and hiking it is best to dress in layers
that allow for flexibility depending on weather conditions)
Hiking boots with ankle support and/or water shoes for
canoe trips Comfortable shoes for around the campsite Flashlight and spare batteries Matches in waterproof container Pocket
knife Few lengths of rope and/or cord Personal first aid kit (personal medications if needed) Emergency coins Toiletries
(toothbrush, toothpaste, wash cloth, hand towel, soap, comb, toilet paper, chapstick, etc.) Tissues, Insect Repellant,
Water bottle, sunglasses, sunscreen Rain gear (poncho)
For Hiking/Exploring
Backpack/Daypack (school pack
is fine) Canteen/water bottle (with neck strap suggested) Whistle Extra socks Rain gear (poncho) Trail mix
or snacks Optional- compass, notebook, pen camera, sunglasses, sunscreen
Things to pack for the upcoming trip..
Sunglasses, sun screen, water shoes or old sneakers,
bathing suit, towel, bag lunch, hat, snack (like breakfast bar), sleeping bag, permission slip (if you don't have one, please
see Mr. Meluso on Thursday)
