Troop 6…The Troop Scoop

Summer camp, know as the best week of the summer, proved once again a very successful one for the scouts of Troop 6.  Many scouts walked away with many merit badges and others learned the skills to advance them to the next rank.  Many scouts attended summer camp this year but I think we set a record for adults/leaders that wanted to get up to NoBe and sleep under the stars.  The weather and campfires were great and everyone is still talking about what a great time they had.  Thanks to the scouts for your hard work and thanks to all the adults/leaders who spent sometime there.

Troop 6 started it's year with an ice cream social on September 10th. Many W2's and parents came to visit the troops get together.  Thank you to our hospitality group for getting the ice cream and toppings.

It's getting close to the end of September which means one thing..It's POPCORN TIME.  We are meeting to find out how to go forward this year with the popcorn.  Our whole year  of scouting depends  on the sales from the popcorn, wreaths and flowers.  We will be putting together a sign up sheet shortly when we find out where the show-n-sell locations will be.  Please check out the sheet and see where you can help out.

St. Al's Parish Picnic was last weekend and we had 6 scouts who helped out set up and take down.  I rec'd a phone call saying Thank you to all those that helped out and wanted to     pass that along.  Larry also was very happy to see the scouts come and move the chairs and tables in and out.  A scout is helpful.  Thanks everyone.

We had two scouts from another troop visit us this past Thursday and they seamed very interested on what our troop had to offer.  The scouts walked away happy with the way the troop was run.  I think they will be back again.  Good job scouts.

Back to school night is on Sept. 24th so we will not be meeting in the cafeteria.  We are trying to get the rectory basement.  We will send out a message shortly if it is available.

Scouts should bring their handbooks to the next few meetings so we can see if they have anything they can finish up before the COA.  The date for the COA is 11/8.
