Now it is time to get your entries in to the Pembroke Arts Festival Competition!
Please drop off your best work at the main desk at the Pembroke Public Library between 7/14 and 7/26.

Welcome
to the 2008-2009 School Year at
Silver Lake Middle School

All 8th graders will have art this year.  7th graders will have art when they are in 8th grade.  Both 7th and 8th graders are welcome to participate in Art Cub on Thursdays after school.
The 8th graders will be rotating for 3 week units in each of the following courses throughout the year:

1)  Art
2)  Family and Consumer Sciences
3)  Technology.

Important Reminder  for Parents and Students!!!
Stuents have 3 weeks in Art before moving on to the next course.  Good attendance will be very important and prompt attention to make-up work will be crucial.  If a student misses a class for any reason, the missed classwork time should be made up immediately, even if the student has "moved on" to the next course.  This is particularly important if the absence occurs in the last week of a 3 week unit!  The student will not have another Art class for 6 weeks!    If a student has unfinished work at the end of the term, his/her grade will be dramatically lowered.  Zeros on projects can easily lower a grade to a D or an F!
The student is 100% responsible for making arrangements to complete all unfinished work before the term ends!
There are late busses 3 nights a week to give students the opportunity to complete make-up work and pursue their artistic interests.  I have over 300 students to help and all of their work to grade each grading term.  I cannot be responsible for contacting students I no longer see all day to remind them to do make-up work.

Art Assignments will be available in 2 locations:
1) on the TEAM's weekly schedule on the school website when the student is currently enrolled in art.
2) posted on the wall in the Art Studio
