During term three, the students were introduced to some basic watercolor techniques through the creation of a
“practice landscape”. Students were amazed with what they could create with a few easy tricks! When
the last team has finished the last landscape, the teams will vote for the best on each team. For their final project
in term four, the students used their creativity and newly acquired skills to illustrate a scene, person, or idea from
the book Maximum Ride.

Club News Art Club students have been very busy helping
teachers and the PTO, as well as trying to meet deadlines for two annual art contests: Royal Brush's painting contest in late
January and the BioDreaming Biotechnology Poster contest in March. Julianne Brown, Bethany Matern, Sarah Peck,
and Matt Tuttle brainstormed ideas and then painted "Everyday Objects in a New Way" for the Royal Brush contest.
In February Club members designed and painted tthe colorful back drop for the photographs at March Madness for the PTO. The
perky leprechaun with his pot of gold, below a colorful rainbow arch of shamrocks, was on display in the main lobby during
March.
Julianne, Bethany, Sarah, and Matt recently spent two afternoons hanging 8-1's Islamic Prayer Rugs with Mrs. Benash.
Be sure to see these in the 8-1 pod area!
Most recently, the following four 8th grade students created posters representing what biotechnology meant to them:
Julianne Brown, Steve George, Bethany Matern, and Matt Tuttle. Each design was unique.

As you know,
this is fairly new Art Department. The facilities are wonderful. We have both a project room and a computer design room. We
refer to these areas together as the "Art Studio," for it is surely more than just a room!
We
began with not even a pair of scissors or a paint brush! Although our supply orders were huge and I brought in carloads of
materials, we still need some items and could really use more of just about anything. So, please think twice before tossing
your "junk" in the trash ! Remember the old saying? "One man's trash is another man's treasure!"
To donate, simply mark a bag Art Studio, or Mrs. Wadsworth
and drop the bag off in the main office!
Suggested items include:
old art supplies - partially used is fine! - such as paints, brushes, etc.
- beads, yarns, strings, stencils, papers, small pieces
of wrapping paper, stamps, pipe cleaners, any bendable wire, glue, sponges, facial tissues for water colors, oil pastels,
colored pencils, glitter, old craft supplies, jewelry findings, felt, markers, crayons, clay tools, glazes, rolls of paper,
etc.
Thanks for all donations!
