The April PTSA meeting - Tuesday, April 15, at 7:30 PM in the Media Center - will feature a presentation on Every Fifteen
Minutes, a national program for high school juniors and seniors that makes the effects of a fatal DUI accident as real as
possible over a two day period. The program involves actual emergency crews and vehicles, which respond to a realistic staged
accident. In addition, student volunteers are called out of class by the Grim Reaper every fifteen minutes; a police officer
then reads that student's obituary (written by the parents) to the class.
There is much more to this effective and powerful program, but you will have to come to the PTSA meeting to hear two youths
(including a Magruder graduate) speak about their involvement and see the DVD of this event as it was recently held at Richard
Montgomery HS. We will also discuss how we can have the program at Magruder.
Please plan on attending with your teens!
If you have any questions, please contact Patty Winters, PTSA Vice President in Charge of Programs, 301-519-7537, or patty.winters@verizon.net.
