Philosophy of Education
School should
be a place where all children have the freedom and opportunity to learn not only traditional subjects, but also to learn about
subjects that interest them. Education should be “hands on.” Teachers should constantly guide the students in making meaningful, real-life connections. Most importantly, technology should be infused into the curriculum. Any job that our students acquire in the future will depend on them to be technologically savvy.
Lessons should be exciting and inspirational. Educators must be enthusiastic
and dramatic. Today’s children need to be stimulated and excited to learn. The
more exciting and relevant a lesson is, the more successful it will be.
School
should be an environment where children feel safe and comfortable. It should
not be a chore to come to school every morning. Teachers, faculty, and administration
should make every effort to make children feel at ease. Students need to
know that school is a place where caring individuals are present to help them meet their needs.
Lastly, students should learn early on that they are responsible and accountable for their education. Teachers are necessary to stimulate, guide, inform, and instruct.
The more responsibility one takes for learning and makes it their own, the more successful he or she will become. Educators need to instill students with a love of life and learning so that they too,
can become life-long learners.
