F.A.Q.'s:
Do you have another location?
NO. Right now, there is only one Poise Dance Studio. There are other studios in Philly that might seem similar to ours,
but we are the original. And the best. ;)
Do you have afternoon classes?
Yes, on Thursdays from 2-3:30, and Saturdays, from Noon-1:30 and 2-3:30.
Do you offer parties at people's houses?
No, only at the studio, for liability reasons. We do rent out a portable pole for $25 per weekend.
Does each girl get her own pole?
No. We keep our classes small, so that there's only a few girls per pole. To have more than 4 poles in use
at once is dangerous to the students. We make sure we can keep an eye on everyone, so that no one gets hurt. Our poles
are also only 8ft. high, so that we can properly spot our girls, and prevent dangerous falls.
How old do you need to be?
You need to be at least 18 years old.
Am I too old?
Not at all. Our girls' ages range from 19-50+. The average age is around 30.
Am I too big?
There is no weight limit, and size has little to nothing to do with ability. The skinny girls are the minority. We have
smaller girls who can't pull themselves upside down, and we have bigger girls who can. Each girl finds her strengths and her
weaknesses. Some are better at spins, while some are better at being up on the pole. You end up with a "pole personality"
while working on your weaknesses.
DO NOT BE SHY ABOUT WEARING SHORTS! YOU LOOK FINE, WE DON'T CARE WHAT YOUR LEGS LOOK LIKE, AND I PROMISE, YOU WILL BE
WEARING SHORTS NEXT SUMMER IF YOU KEEP UP WITH CLASSES! Even if you don't lose tons of weight, you will be toned and loving
your body just because you know what you can do with it in class!
But I have no upper body strength...
No one does when they start. You don't need strength to learn the basics. And you advance at your own pace. You
WILL be spinning around in your first class, regardless of what shape you are in. The best part is, you don't realize you
are getting stronger, because you are having a great time! Within just a few months, you'll be amazed at what you can do,
and you'll notice muscles in your arms, and strapless tops and dresses will look fabulous.
But I have no coordination, no rhythm, and/or never wear heels.
All of our classes cater to all levels. It's supposed to be fun! There are no competitive, diva, or clicky attitudes
allowed.
You don't need to be a natural dancer to pole dance either. You are hanging onto the pole most of the time, so it helps
with your balance. Think of roller skating and hanging onto the ledge. But looking pretty while doing it. If you can walk,
you can pole dance. It does not require rhythm, but we work on that with you. And you will get comfortable wearing heels.
The boots we recommend are easy to walk in, and end up feeling like sneakers.
We are serious about these answers, and have the students to prove it. No matter what your insecurity is, we have a girl
who used to feel the same way, including the owner and our instructors. Get over it, and just come to class already!
OUR POLICIES!
OUR SCHEDULING POLICY
If for some strange reason we only have 1 or 2 girls in a class, the class will only be an hour, instead of
an hour and a half.
Sign ups are taken between 10am and 4pm, ON THE DAY OF THE CLASS YOU ARE SIGNING UP FOR. (For Thurs. and
Sat afternoon classes, sign up before noon or the day before.) We do not accept walkins.
If you sign up for class and do not show, you are taking spots from other students. If this becomes a habit,
then you will not be confirmed to attend until we allow others to sign up first. If you are signing up for yourself with friends,
then please make sure everyone is coming before you sign them up. If they do not show, it reflects badly on you.
Unexpected lateness is disrespectful and will not be tolerated. Please let us know if you are going to be late.
If you are more than 15 minutes late, we reserve the right to refuse your participation in the class.
If you try to sign up for class and it is full, then we will allow you to sign up in advance for the next class
you'd like to attend, to make it up to you.
We do not take walkins, even by regular students. Do not simply tell the instructor you'll be in. EVERYONE
needs to sign up by phone or email, EVERY TIME.
OUR PRICING POLICY
If you come to class and pay the $10 for the class, this is not a down payment towards the package. You can't
pay $10 now, and $40 next time. If you want to pay $10 now, and the $50 next time, that's fine. Or, you can continue
to pay $10 per class until the dues are collected for the next month. In the same respect, if you take class and pay the $50
for the next month, you will still need to pay $10 for that class if you haven't paid for that month. The
unlimited classes will not start until the month begins. No rolling months. You cannot do unlimited classes from the 12th
to the 12th, etc.
There are a few things to consider if you are debating a monthly package. If you need to come on a certain day and
time during the week, then check and see how many of those days are within the month. Sometimes there are more class days
in a month than others. Check for holidays. We are open most holidays, but we cannot guarantee there will be classes.
We try our best to ensure every monthly student is able to take as many classes as she wants, but we can only guarantee
access to at least 3 classes per week for an unlimited package, before we would feel we owe you a refund.
If for some reason we need to cancel classes, we will still try to make sure you are able to get your classes in before the
month ends. But you are not guaranteed as many classes as you want. Classes fill up, and we need to cancel classes sometimes.
If you didn't get to take every class you wanted, you are not entitled to a refund or any other arrangement.
Please remember you have a choice. You do have the option of paying $10 per class, if you think you won't be able to come
to class enough times within the month to make it worthwhile. We do not make you commit! You can pay for the month one
month, then pay by the class the next month, say, if you'll be on vacation.
Finally, if you pay for the month and find out you are unable to take classes that month after all, then we will
consider letting you transfer the dues to the next month, IF you let us know within the first week of the month, AND if you
have not taken a class yet that month. If we allow you to transfer to the next month, it will be for the next month only.
Not 2 months from then. You cannot give your classes to another student. It is your name on the prepaid list. We do offer
gift certificates, and you can buy your friend a monthly package. You just can't give her yours.
