WHAT TO WEAR TO CLASS-

NO LOTION! We can't stress this enough. Even a small amount of lotion on your hands or legs makes the pole VERY slippery, and we spend half the class cleaning the pole. So come ashy!

OUTFIT- Please come to class dressed properly, in short shorts, and a comfortable top. Wearing shorts will allow you to do many moves you would not be able to do otherwise. You need your thigh skin to hold on to the pole for you. Don't be shy, we love your legs. Heels are highly recommended, but not mandatory.

SHOES- We have a 10% off deal with www.pinupshoes.com! Just use our discount code- poise10

Look for "Electra 1020" for the boots we like.
If you are serious about learning and sticking with it, there's only 1 type of shoe you need for class. You'll want to get a pair of CALF high (not knee high), PATENT leather (not real leather or leatherette), PLATFORM BOOTS with a STACKED heel and an inside zipper.

It is not mandatory that you get boots, or these specific kinds of boots. These are just the easiest to work with in class, from experience. The patent leather will help you stick to the pole, but not too much, like a knee high boot, which will make you stick when you need to slide. A stiletto heel is fine, but they are more difficult to walk in. The inside zipper is better than just laces. You can tie them up, then clamp down the metal hooks, so that you can simply zip them on and off, to save time in class. They are pretty true to size, but if you are a half size, then go bigger rather than smaller when ordering.

For local shoe shopping, we highly recommend E-ZONE, at 525 South St.!

WHAT TO EXPECT -
All classes begin with a BRIEF warm up of stretching. All students are required to stretch before dancing.

Then it's on to the fun! We only allow up to 10 girls per class, for our 4 poles. The classes are structured so that each girl gets individual attention, and a full body workout.
You will learn at least 3 moves in your first class, and from there, work on or learn at least 2 new moves in each class. You will be given a checklist of moves, so that whoever the instructor is, she will know where you are and what you are ready to move on to. You will most likely be put in a group of 2-3 girls, who are at the same level as you. Never more than 4 girls per group. We take ALL levels in ALL classes, from "Never did this before" to "I've been with Jamie for 2 years". The end of each class is at the instructor's discretion. We'll play a game, do a routine, but no matter what, we try to keep the classes creative. It never gets predictable!

The Poise Dance Studio Ribbon Program!
Each student receives a checklist of the moves we teach, which are put into categories. This sheet stays in the studio. As you complete a category, you can be tested for the ribbon for that category at the end of class, and then advance yourself to the next level! It's a great way to reward your progress!

WHAT TO EXPECT IN PRIVATE POLE LESSONS-
For 1-4 girls, you will learn moves equivalent to 3 regular classes. For 5-8 girls, it might vary depending on how quickly you pick up the moves.

A private lesson for 1 girl has 2 options:
1) Learn pole moves specific to what your goal is
2) Learn a choreographed routine to a song you choose. Jamie will need at least 1 week's notice to choreograph the routine for you. You do not need a pole to learn a routine. Jamie is very well rounded and can teach whatever you'd like.

WHAT TO WEAR AND EXPECT IN WEDDING DANCE LESSONS-
Try to wear something slightly comparable to what you will wear on the big day. Especially the shoes! We have an ankle length skirt you can wear over your clothes if need be.
Our basic wedding dances are photo op's and very entertaining for your guests. No need to learn the waltz, or anything formal. We will simply show you off, and make sure your guests want more.

We specialize in choreographed "numbers" for weddings, which are becoming all the rage! Just let Jamie know what you are interested in, and you will have a routine that can include anyone you'd like (bridal party, etc.) that will be fabulous and memorable.

We do a 3 class package minimum. 3 1-hour lessons will give you enough time to learn and rehearse the dance, without being overwhelmed. If an additional class is needed, then they will be $100 per hour each.

WHAT TO WEAR AND EXPECT FOR PRIVATE PARTIES:
For private parties, wear as seen above in regular classes.
You can bring alcohol, but you cannot be drunk. You can bring decorations, food, whatever you'd like, but keep in mind we do not have a kitchen.
You will have a brief warm up of just stretching, and then you will learn a series of moves, that will tie into a fun, sexy routine, that you will perform for each other at the end of the lesson! There will be 10 minutes at the end of the party for you to take pictures, etc.
