| Thanks "Dave" ! |
February 8, 2009 - 8:15 PM Bob and Karl left the Edmund Fowle House & Museum this past Sunday
evening thinking about where to go for a bite to eat. They decided to go to Verona's Restaurant and were surprised to
see that it was crowded. They recognized a patron as a previous donor to the historical society. After exchanging pleasantries
and thanking him again for his financial support that restored, preserved and reframed the Benjamin Robbins Curtis
portrait that is hung in the front parlor of the Edmund Fowle House, this donor who wishes to remain anonymous, wanted
to know if we would accept another donation. Bob looked at Karl, Karl looked at the donor and said, "Of course we
will!" The donor, let's call him "Dave", pulled out a wad of cash and started counting them out and when he got
sixty dollars, asked if we would take winning lottery tickets instead. Karl looked at Bob, and Bob said to "Dave", "Why not?"
Lo and behold he gave us a stack of scratched tickets and said there was at least four winners amongst the dozen or so he
gave us. To our amazement the four winners totaled $105.00. We sincerely thank "Dave" for his generosity and interest in the
Historical Society of Watertown.
