The Boston Post Cane
A Century ago the concept of honoring The Oldest Citizen in New England Towns with a beautifully engraved
walking cane was created by the Boston Post Newspaper. The Cane that was given in Watertown disappeared soon after the first
honoree was so honored. The whereabouts of the Watertown Cane was a mystery until this past year. Due to the charity and dogged
determination to recover it by Charlie Morash and friends the Cane has returned to Watertown.
The Historical Society of Watertown,
Caretakers of the Cane, will once again honor the Oldest Citizen in Watertown. To preserve the original Watertown
Boston Post Cane on display at the Edmund Fowle House Museum, replicas have been crafted. A replica cane will be presented
