Arts and Crafts Event December 5

at the Apartments at Coolidge School

Members of the Watertown Art Association will have an opportunity to sell their arts and crafts at an event to be held at the Apartments at Coolidge School, 319 Arlington Street, Watertown. The tables will be $10 for WAA members, $20 for non members with all proceeds to benefit the WAA Scholarship Fund given annually to a graduating Watertown High School Student who excels in the arts. The event will be Saturday, December 5 from 11 am to 3 pm. If you are interested in reserving a table to sell your arts and crafts, please contact Dawn Scaltreto at 617-924-5170 or via e-mail at descal@rcn.com The event will be promoted in the newspaper and to the residents of the complex. It is a great way to pick up a little extra cash and sell your beautiful handcrafted items—you keep all the profit! The fudge recipe cookbooks by Gloria Nickos Avtgis will be available with all proceeds benefiting the Watertown Art Association.

Treasurer Dollie McCall retires from the Board

It is hard to imagine a board meeting without Dollie McCall’s wit and wisdom. She is often the very first face a newcomer encounters at our meetings and exhibits. I know she was the first person in the WAA I met. She was seated at the entry table at the first event I attended— the Annual Exhibit back in 1990, then in the basement of the Masonic Temple on Church Street.

She was so friendly, and right away encouraged me as an artist to join the organization. Dollie has served as treasurer for over 20 years. After careful consideration, she has chosen to step down from her duties. Her wonderful assistant, Pauline Alarie, will be taking over as treasurer.

Please join us for the Annual Holiday Party on December 8 where we will celebrate her many years of service to the organization, and share our gratitude for her wonderful guidance and leadership through the years. I think I may have to encourage her to take up painting now that she is retired from the board!
