Ten Thousand Villages
at Woodstown Friends Meetinghouse
Wednesday 2 December -- Sunday
6 December 2009
For the last fourteen
holiday seasons, Woodstown Friends have hosted Ten Thousand Villages, an international festival that provides vital, fair
income to artisans and their families in more than 32 developing nations by marketing their handicrafts and telling their
stories. Examples of products include a large assortment of holiday ornaments, jewelry, musical instruments, toys, handmade
paper and cards, scarves, tablecloths, hand carved animals, and kitchen utensils. One hundred percent of the proceeds
from our sale is returned to the organizers of Ten Thousand Villages, the Mennonite Central Committee. These earnings
provide artisans, who would otherwise be unemployed or underemployed, with an income for food, housing, healthcare, and education.
